920 $200 at microcenter... cheapest X58 board I found on the egg is the foxconn flamingblade GTI at $145. That any good? Is X58 that much better than the cheaper P55? I'm going to assume intel's stock cooler is still crappy as usual?
Figure heck I might as well price one out...

ONLY downside to doing a P55 that I see is that you won't be able to drop in a 6 core next year..

How about buy it through ewiz $160-STUFFING15=$145 shipped, then take another 5% off for bing CB
For the price you are better off with X58 over P55; almost the same price, but you may be able to find a used Gulftown later for a great price to add to a x58, cannot do that with P55
The p55's are great if you can get them cheap enough, but usually require 1.4v to get 4ghz. no upgrade in them.
I am thinking of selling my P55m-UD4P/X3440. PM me if you are interested. Not quite sure if the loss is worth selling for
