Hondacity: Don't care about frost on the top of your container - watch out for water and frost on the motherboard, especially on the underside.
Thanks xogolatl I think that's enough for starters, the problem with big dewars is that you need a discharge valve that costs twice it's price to pump the ln2 out.

I use liquid electrical tape underneath the kneaded eraser just to be safe.

    welcome to the team...

hwbot.org has all the basics...they have the rules for benching..proper screenshots and downloads...

i suggest starting with the cpu benching..i see you're good with ram timings...

    edit

    WOW You have 3d power

3dmark vantage...disable physx and run ht on...
    3dmark 06
3dmark 05..make sure you disable cpu test....

3dmark06 requires better cpu speeds...can you try 4.4ghz ht off on your cpu? 4.5ghz ht off might also be doable..on your cpu...

also follow right screen shots...cpuz cputab..cpuz memory tab, gpuz , 3dmark score..and subtests.. and resolution of display.. check my profile and some other members too...

    Talking Ln2 Here I Come

    Hey Guys!

Just got a Taylor Wharton 10XT dewar for storage and a small wide mouth Supairco 2 Liter Metal Dewar for pouring. The Taylor Wharton was $149 and the Supairco for $100 on fleeBay

The 10XT is from the extended time refrigerators series for maximum holding times and sells for $350 on eBay, so I guess I got a bargain.

isnt 10L on the small side? i received a 15L and i want to buy another 15. although ofcourse it depends on what your all going to do, just cpu for a few hours might be plenty, but you cant fill an afternoon with 10L i suppose?

Yes it is just for cpu benching. 10l + 2l = 3 - 3 1/2 hours of fun I guess. Airgas is almost my neighbor so getting refills there is a quick 5min.

I just think would be smarter to start with a small dewar that will be easy to hide from my wife.

i get 85-90 degrees with this

can only do 4000 with ht on

    if i run my ramm @ 2000 i need 1.67 volts and 1.62 qpi

Seems like you should be good for 4.2 with HT with that CPU on air, you might need to play with it a little...

On the weekend I wanted to bench for the HWBot Country CUP, but my 965 BE must be the worst Phenom II ever made. It started when I couldn't run my D9GTR, my D9JNL were not yet at my house, and flashing another BIOS made the stability with my Dominator GT even worse. Clocks that were stable before on CPU and NB crashed almost instantly when I ran 32M. In the end I achieved nothing but this worthless validation. I hope you all had a better weekend!

I see that you're running your RAM at 7-7-7-20, did you test for the max clocks with tRCD at 8?

Have fun and enjoy your stay at XS!

Sorry for your bummer weekend :/
Could've been worse, such things happen when you have to get things done in a hurry.
I set up the system, flashed the BIOS, installed XP, changed memory about 6 times, memtested and tried to run some benches in about 5 hours. Not good.

    OMG! Wanna trade houses?

I'm posting to give notice of my presence in the XS HWBOT team! I've been on XS a while under the alias of TRG, but I've registered on HWBOT under _Datura_.

I've got a lot of experience with computer hardware, and I'm not scared of electronics or physics because I have a bachelor in electronic engineering and a master in biomedical engineering. I've started with extreme overclocking 2 years ago. First I made a LN2/Dry Ice pot of copper (see profile pic), and tested it two times with dry ice and one time with LN2. It was fun, but I didn't liked the slow learning proces because it was too much hassle to get the cooling stuff and organize OC days. To increase my extreme OC experience I bought a SS with a load of P!!! stuff (12 mobos, 150 CPU's, 4 KG of RAM). I've started with this P!!! project 2 months ago, and the first results are appearing on HWBOT. So far the learning proces is much better, and I'm learning lots about voltmods and software tweaks. The best is that the hardware is very cheap (all together around 300 euro), so I'm not afraid of killing stuff, and the first RAMs, CPU's and mobos have died over the past weeks . When I'm finished with this set of hardware, I will consider myself much more into extreme overclocking, and then I will be ready for some more LN2/ Dry Ice events. But for the moment I'm very happy with my SS (but looking for a second).

My next project at the moment is the development of a watercooled 120W TEC setup for my single sided SDRAM sticks. I'm having lots of trouble with getting reasonable SDRAM speeds. 185 MHz at 1:1 divider is my best at the moment. So if anybody can help me (with PC150/PC166 or +200 MHz sticks), then PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Okay, that was me. I'll drop by time by time

Thanks! Intention was to do a few more benchmarks, but i was kind of to sleepy to think properly @ 4.30 in the morning, so just warmed her up with a few cpu runs @ 06, and went to bed . really want to push it once more on LN2, actually trying to get one of those 3570's in the online deals section, but i need to sell some stuff ( W3540 + dewar ) first, oh well, we'll see!

I have an old Asus CUSL2-C moatherboard that I got for very little money on ebay, is it any good for benching old stuff?
It is quite good, but the TUSL2-C is better because it also supports up to 1.4 GHz cpu's. I already got a pile of CUSL2-C's and TUSL2-C's. Luckfully they are easy to find on ebay

I got some memory with it too, I'll check what it is when I'm at home.
I REALLY NEED FAST MEMORY! I've been searching the internet for the last month, and it seems impossible to find anything with OC characteristics. Best results have been achieved with PC150 and PC166 sticks, but nobody makes those anymore and they are not wel respresented in the second-hand circuit

Question: With my Vcore voltmod I have increased the maximum Vcore from around 1.8 to 2.1. But for example GraduS is achieving voltages up to 3.0 volts. He said to me he is using the power from another motherboard for that. Does anyone have any tips on how to achieve such a setup? Or any others ways to just cranck up the voltage? I was planning to just connect a DC power source to the Vcore circuitry this weekend, but I can find little information on this subject..
