EVGA GTX 260 SC 55nm doesn't want to clock GPU & mem clocks anymore

Is this a common issue, that suddenly the gfx card clock stability takes a nose dive? I used to be running 734/1512/1188 MHz for over a half year but now I can run at 626/1476/1053 MHz, doesn't seem like it wants to get the gpu or mem clocks touched at all or I get random reboots when playing games or when trying to log into windows and windows reports "kernel-power" issues in eventlogger.

AFAIK the EVGA GTX 260 SC doesn't use the standard design so ofc due to it hasn't gone through as thorough testing as the default nvidia design, such issues are maybe more likely to happen but that it doesn't want to get GPU & mem clocks changed at all but standard works fine is a bit weird to me...

Yes I'm used to getting degradation in GPU overclocks b4 as well with my 8800GT for example at first 1030MHz on mem was fine and later had to decrease to 1010MHz to avoid graphics that u might refer to LSD-like environment with pink/purple etc textures and squares and triangles etc :p but now we're talking 734/1512/1188 vs 626/1476/1053 and that it causes random reboots not giving any BSODs makes it even more weird. :p

Yes I'm aware most GPUs show at least some kind of degradation if you already from start run it at the very max clocks but isn't this a bit more unusual extreme case of degradation? And why can't I run anything above stock on gpu or mem?

Anyway just bought an EVGA GTX 280. ^^

this might be a silly question... but have you replaced the TIM? i noticed the same thing with my 9800gx2's but a few weeks ago i pulled the coolers and replaced the TIM with as5 and ceramique, now i'm back to 700mhz core clocks (couldn't go past 630mhz)!

That's a funny thing because the previous owner had already done this to the card.

It worked fine for 7 months at those clocks and suddenly it starts random rebooting, I thought it was something with my P55 setup reading about all the problems about Foxconn socket but then turned out to be the gfx card. I didn't even think gfx card could cause kernel issues in Win 7.
