    Hi all
new to i7 here and especially to DFI. Very nice board for oc but i have to read a lot to stabilize it. I'm currently working on stabilizing 4.2G. I can bench a little in 4.5G and 230 bclk but gaming at those settings is a lot of pages to read far away. Anyway my first NOOB question concerns the Bernstein audio module......... it seems that when i plug it's cable on the board the power is being cut off. All the leds on the board come off and i can't turn it on. Is there a trick to make this thing work (i can't find anything in the manual) or do i have a broken audio module (or MB)???
Thank you all for your help. I'll keep you posted with my results.

Seems like something is shorting, so check the board and cable to make sure everything looks good.

You are pacing the audio module in the topmost slot, right? In case, it will touch the cooler and short out your system. Move it down and it will work.

Yes. Can you please post your bios settings? I have been trying to get 4ghz stable on my C0 since Jan. To bad almost no one discusses this processor anymore.

I find the the heat-overhead of x10 RAM ( high VVT and 4200 Uncore) to be far from the sweet-spot for 24/7 use.
But some people were claiming that DFI can't run RAM at these high speeds. So I just had to try it, just for fun.

    i also just got a new G.Skill PS DDR3-2133 CAS9-9-9 3x2GB kit.
i'm still running this kit with 1.665v bios (1.64-1.65v in Windows),
after spent some times with this specific ram kit and the board, it seems to me that the gap between Vdimm and CPU VTT voltage is around 0.245v,
if there is too big or too small a gap on these voltages then it will be only 4GB of the 6GB detected by BIOS and Win 7, and a cool boot problem.

    DDR2160 memory 12x Vdimm 1,665 CPU VTT 1,42 BIOS

    DDR2200 memory 10x,
    not SuperPI stable.

Well it got that "ABS" over-clocking software, but I personally never trusted or used it.

trying a dual-channel memory mode and memory 10x setup
my system can be stable with less CPU VTT (for triple channel i would needed it 1.42v+)

i just wonder is there really any less performance than using triple channel?

    Tried. Same as 7/24.
Google "VT-d" to read about tech, but it was already in BIOS 7/24.
Added "CPU Features Lock: Enabled/Disabled" under "CPU Features".
Don't now what it's for, though.

tried running DDR3-2000 9-9-9-24 triple channel with the lowest VDimm.

BIOS... DRAM Bus Voltage: 1.515v (1.48-1.49v in Windows)
DRAM PWM Switch Frequency: Reduce 15%

if VDimm in BIOS below 1.515v, it will result in only 4GB of the 6GB detected by BIOS and Win 7
in the below example i set 1.485v VDimm (tried 1.50v, results the same)

Guys, I just got my DFI mobo and I have a problem. How do I force it to run 21x at all times? In my Rampage II Extreme I can easily do that but with the DFI, it runs 20x and not 21x at all times I am on an i7 920
Someone please guide me what are the settings?

I just reseated my h50 cooler on my xeon xpu on this board and all of a sudden I notice I'm getting too high System temps in Smart Guardian (PWM temps).
70 c on load with numbers in red, which afaik I never had before. I don't recall doing anything to the board besides reseating the cooler.
Any ideas what may cause this all of a sudden?

    ^^

The chances are that you disturbed the PWM heat sink when re-fitting your H50.

    "Channel Interleave Setting"

anyone ever tried this setting in bios?

for triple channels i usually set it to Auto or 3ways (always set to 6ways while i use 6x2GB, 12GB of ram)

anyway, for this below memory speed and timings my Everest memory latency was normally around 39~42ns,
but once i changed the Channel Interleave Setting from Auto to 2Ways the Everest's memory latency is quite improve.

i continue to check out the Channel Interleave Setting and everest memory latency benchmark some more

this one is with CPU based clock, but clock memory to memory 16x

if anyone's running a lower latency ram kit and use an uptodate version of the everest and will clock about the same with mines,
i also just curious if i can have some results to compare with.
