What can you suggest? I'd love something 80+ certified, and I don't need too much power, 850-1000W would be optimal.
I'd also like to avoid PSU problems, I know that Enermax is having compatibility issues, maybe some other units, and I'd like to avoid that.
I had a look at Corsair PSUs so far. HX1000 looks fine. However, HW850 looks even better, it's cheaper and single rail. However, it has only 1x 8 pin cable for the motherboard. What else can you suggest?
And (noob question inc) 8 pin (6+2 for that matter) PCI-Express cables would not work with 8 pin motherboard connectors, would they?
    Thanks in advance.
HX1000 if you want it now...otherwise, I'd wait for this one...http://kingpincooling.com/forum/showthread.php?t=249

It should hopefully be out soon and it probably will be one of the best PSU around. The part number for it is TPQ-1200 as far as I know.

I love my HX1000 and Corsair has great customer service from what I have seen. Also, I can confirm that it has 2 8-pin connectors, one hard-wired and one modular.

Just got my 759 installed and stable at 4200mhz with a 920. I'm trying for 205-210 blclk with no luck. I need help! 200 was stable past 13hours small fft, 20 passes of linpak. HT is off.Everest is showing my NB temps at about 55c under full load. It sometimes shoots to 85-90c for about 3-5 seconds then drops back to 55ish. this is an intermittent spike. Is it really getting that hot, for such a short time? I notice it when running small fft. I have a small fan on NB heatsync and replaced the stock TIM with arctic ceramiq. It idles at 29-30c. Is everest correct? I didnt see the temps for NB in eleet. So far 6 hours of tweaking = 13hours of stability at 4200. I must have more! I know its possible for my cpu to be at its limit already, but assuming it isnt, what settings do you suggest i play with? Thanks for the help. Oh and i need to updaye my sig. untill then i have classified 759, 6gb gskill perfect storm ddr3 2000, thermaltake 1000w PSU, GTX295, 920cpu, and TRUE Push Pull.

I don't own nor have I used a Classified, but I would imagine running 1.4v vIOH for only 204.5 bclk is a massive overkill. Try ~1.15v. Also, although you may have another issue, you probably need to raise CPU Vtt to get DDR3-2000 MHz, although how much you need here is really dependent on your CPU's IMC. You may find you require 1.45 - 1.55v Vtt.

People did notice it but I think in general this feature makes no difference really? I have not found any information on it really doing anything which causes noticeable difference in performance or stability...

I got what you are saying but no I personally did not notice it. I am not sure how you are determining that from simply looking at CoreTemp. I do know though that CoreTemp does not report any errors in the Event Viewer, i.e., there are no errors stating that the HPET failed to load or w/e. In fact, there are no HPET associated errors or warnings reported anywhere from any application. How did you notice this exactly? Also, what is the issue with it in your opinion? Finally, are you talking about RealTemp since CoreTemp latest version is 0.99.x something?

I'm curious if you think this is related to the messed up BCLK value on the Classified that under-reports BCLK by ~0.5MHz? I pointed this out to Peter some time ago but was told that there is nothing that can be done, which I am not sure about since Asus had a similar problem but no longer does after they made an update to the Clock Generator in one of the recent BIOS updates.

    u want to know how
after 4 dfi boards with coretemp 3.3 and testing HPET. i know.

no its not the 0.5.. thats just software reading of the clock generator.
dude u dont get HPET errors on x58 clocking .

this i cannot explain to until u use more boards.
dont make another assumption on this
just take my word for this.. its disabled by default.

I'm not arguing with you...I think you misunderstood me...

    I'm...

    1. Asking how you determined this and...
    2. More importantly what is the purpose of this and how if at all does it impact performance/overclocking/stability?

I'm asking you to explain it to me, not saying that I do not believe you...

    sorry tired

from testing the dfi. on hpet at off ,32bit,64bit
in response to coretemp 3.3 , evga precision , cpu tweaker reading.

    its disabled.

the 0.5bclk is just software reading. nothing else.

Hmm...I'm not getting your explanation. Can you elaborate? What is the downside of not having HPET enabled/available? And how do you use those tools to determine that HPET is not available?

On the BCLK, Peter and Raja have both indicated that this is not just a software reading issue but that the clock generator in fact runs ~0.5MHz below the set BCLK.

I really don't know. I have the E759 so the BIOS is somewhat different. I'm pretty happy with the latest S227 BIOS though I don't use QPI compensation on anything but Auto...what is the RTL issue and QPI compensation issue you are talking about? I want to test it on the E759 to see if it has the same problem but I need to know what the problem is first.

Strang that, because i'm finding 61D to be just about the best yet

I can't say that iv'e come across any Rtl issues, or QPI comp issues either.

    on the bclk part
this is what the dfi engineer told me when the dfi had the same issue.
he assured me no diff although they rectified it.

on the software issue. with the hpet on .. u dont get influenced by software.
example if i want to cheat 1 bclk all i need is just to run evga precision+ imon. and my reading will jump. this is for cpu tweaker and coretemp.
    cpuz and eleet no affected.

    the rtl u need to test 2k C7 and 2050 C7 for 53,55,57 and 54,56,58
both are not doable on S61D.

Not for 24/7 without subzero... believe me, for full stability there's no way to get more than 4.2-4.25GHz UC primestable with watercooling. Chiller may be an option without high humidity. But for benching, in case you do not fear high vdimm (you'd have to raise to get the right vtt-vdimm ratio) you can go some higher.

Actually just ordered Corsair HX1000 (12v rails: 40A x2 ) today. But thanks for the input!
    Seemed to be better than TT Toughpower 1200W (12v: 36A x2 + 20A x2 , plus it's not black! ) and Enermax Revolution (12v 30A rails).
Antec 1200W PSU wasn't available, and I was too lazy to check anything else.
