I agree. I am not even jumping on the hate bandwagon since I made no opinion either way as to how the ads bother me. To me, looking at world hunger and USA.gov ads along with the "You are the 1000000 winner" crap really demeans a site like this. If I don't like the ads, I will block them and be done with it. Anyone that whines about it yet does not block them is really only hurting themselves. I will never click an ad no matter what the potential benefit could be. I don't trust that crapola.

I am installing adblock right now and suggest anyone else that is bothered by this crap to do the same. Any way you look at it, hosting any type of advertising like this on this site really takes credibility down a peg. You may feel otherwise, but these ads are over the top.

...and it's not my network's problem. Same goes at home and work.

the talking ones got to go. i could care less about ads but when i take a break from playing a game or watching a tv show on my computer and come on here and look i shouldnt have to mute or turn off my speakers.

its really freakin annoying when you click on the next page and an annoyingly loud ad pops up.

its getting to the point where its going to drive me away from this forum.

there's no way in hell im going to pay to view a public forum.

Normally, I could care less about ads... I lost the ability to even notice them long ago. But these new freak'n screaming ones need to go. I rarely surf XS during work breaks anymore because of this. I'm tired of looking over my shoulder for bosses/co-workers or having to mute every time I want to hit XS during the work day.

Anybody know a way to block ads on chrome?

Edit: got the stupid, loud "mystery package" ad from posting this...

can't believe it. As said I got NS and ABP active permanently, and I discover that stuff in your posts here. There's no other word: that's no spam anymore for some ads, this forum is purely and simply displaying scams...worse stuff ever, next step is :banana::banana::banana: or what

Wow i cant believe everybody is so against ads, to me ads are fine, have to pay the bills, the problem is there not relevant to the content of this forum, so there pretty bad.

put up some computer related ads, and some google text ads , if ads bug you people so much dont click them, but i understand the talking ads have to go .

Would you rather have ads ? or go to a paid membership ? cause thats probally what it boils down to.

Neo maybe read a little more into the thread this thread was started because
We dont care about ads. period.
    Please relevant ads.
We have the crucial ads and some OC competition ads thats cool

    What we are comlaining about
    :banana::banana::banana::banana: site style ads
    XS looking cheap
Ads with music or sound to them
Ads which overlap threads I cant even read the for sale section sometimes,
No ads when logged in if we can if we cant please ditch all the cheap looking scam ads
Spacing since the ads came in (the new crappy ads) threads are wayyy to the left it makes every look like crap its not just oh they put some ads up.

Everything in the site changed load times are tier then ever.

not surprising. There's only one person responsible for that mess, and he's not very talkative. Just think what the message was after the downtime a few months ago...3 useless words. Don't expect more this time.

or if your good with editing you can just create a urlfilter.ini file with notepad
after you paste this info in notepad name the file urlfilter.ini, and put it in your opera profile directory.

    Code:
    Opera Preferences version 2.1
; Do not edit this file while Opera is running
; This file is stored in UTF-8 encoding

I just installed Adblock Plus lol ( for the very first time )
Ads are ok as long as they're not disturbing... now... talking or screaming or buzzing stupid flash ads for stupid stuff and scams ? I would love to kick the bloody blokes who designed those stupid and incredibly annoying ads

Charles, just make a deal with 2-3 hardware vendors or shops, and have their banners placed on the site with "local" code and it's cool.
Win-win situation, you have control of the location and ad type ( just make sure they're not alive ) and better stats handling.

dont flame as im not really trying to put down the helpful people with the solutions to our problems but...isn't anyone else a bit turned off by the fact that we have to accomodate ourselves with these "work arounds" anytime something like this happens (like that URL avatar thread a while back) instead of the admins hearing us out and trying to cope with the community?

What the hell is up with these ads anyway? I thought Fugger or XS in general was against them?

The ones with sound pissed me off tonight while playing some music over my speakers at increased volume.

Installed Ad blocker myself. I understand having to pay the bills also. That is the reason I always try to not run ad blocking software. Its when the Ads affect the forum by screaming at you and start covering up parts of the forum that it becomes an issue.

Seems it is going to become another bananas thing where not official response is posted and it drags on for alot longer than it needs to.
