Completely and totally uncalled for ads. Last thing I need is a screaming ad telling me "CONGRATULATIONS!"

    Please, fix this now.

+1, ABP rocks, I'm always using it, I wasn't even aware that XS turned into a ad spam fest until I saw this thread.

This is such a disgrace, and they continue to do so until removed.

This is supposed to be the Number 1 hardware enthusiast site in the world.

Even with all the paying members Fugger's still short of money? Who in their right mind would click on it anyway?

We shouldn't have to run adblock software to get rid of this.

Agreed after going through my subscribed threads each time I click UserCP I keep hearing over and over "CONGRATULATIONS!" You just won a free GUN to shoot yourself..

Ads don't bother me too much it is the talking ones are not right for this forum.

Just adding my $.02. I haven't donated b/c I don't have the money right now. As such, I don't mind ads at all. I was not getting adblocker because I don't want to keep the site's ads from getting the impression...I don't pay, I should look at the ads. It's even fine with me to have non-hardware related ads; hey, you've got to pay the bills, I understand that.

All of that said, the ads yelling at us have absolutely got to go. It's ridiculous. I'm used to seeing and indeed expect junk like this from random crap sites around the internet, but not a place like XS. I'm embarrassed for the forum.

    Hey Charles,

I seriously love this forum for many reasons. I as many others don't have the money to sub because of obvious reasons.

Honestly the Voice ads are over the top, and really annoying. I realize you need funding to keep the site going. However, I am not the only one getting annoyed by these. I shouldn't have to use a different browser or customize my browser for one particular thing that I don't encounter on other sites/forums I regular.

Pics/images etc fine. But the voice ones are starting to grind on my nerves.

or if your good with editing you can just create a urlfilter.ini file with notepad
after you paste this info in notepad name the file urlfilter.ini, and put it in your opera profile directory.

    Code:
    Opera Preferences version 2.1
; Do not edit this file while Opera is running
; This file is stored in UTF-8 encoding

    [prefs]
    prioritize excludelist=1

Why are the ads not related to computers ? they should all be related to computers, processors, motherboards etc, Gigabyte, Asus, Msi etc ads ??? they will get clicked then, but wallmart ?. I can understand takes alot of bandwidth to run this site, and money, so ads are not a problem, just put up the right ads that relate to the content, thats my 2cents.

    +1

Really, this is a step in the wrong direction:

These are just the gifs, some of the flash ones are just as bad.

Do you REALLY think I'm going to click on these ?
They remind me of when I first started using the internet with my 14.4k modem :/

I just dont understand it. This is the No1 site.....manufacturers know this surely ?

Create your OWN ad management system (I normally using OpenX) and you can then choose delivery times, weights, etc. I've integrated OpenX into many vbulletin forums before.

Then, manufacturers can advertise. Maybe even suppliers.

This has to be one of the hottest threads on XS !

Even though we're not hearing anything here, I'm sure it's being taken under advisement.

But I'll say it again, the talking ads have got to go !!!

and never see another annoying ad generated delay or ad again.

adjuggler is the offender of all the annoying ads. netfirm is the ad at the bottom of the forum , and is not bad at all.

Concerning my last post, I don't see ads at all, just wanted to have a look with NS and ABP off... some forums have disturbing ads, but that's nothing compared to what's going on here
