    M4A785TD-M EVO htt issue

    Hi,
I just got this motherboard with a x4 620 cpu. I tried to push it a little but I get a wall above 217 htt. 217 is fine, 220, 225, 230 and the pc won't post.
Mem-nb etc was set in safe values. I tried latest bios 903 with no luck. Anything over 217 is not possible.
I thought to try a previous bios but I found an other guy in asus forums with the same problem using bios 902.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance...

EDIT: problem identified and is memory related (see post 44)

new ram, well what can i say. All thats changed is ram divider at 677 and fsb upped to 250. Everything else on auto atm.

Any advise on what to change, would like to see me get 3.7 stable in prime with this chip.

I don't have this board yet but have you tried doing this in AOD in windows versus booting?

It could be a HTT hole.

    Have you dropped ram divider?

    Hi chew*
    this happens also with AOD.

I tried htt up to 235 in case it was a htt hole and also tried mem at 666 and 533 divider, nb and htt 8x. Same issue.

I will try 240 just in case...do you think I should go more than this in case for a htt hole?

    thanks

Usually AOD will get around the hole if its a bios hole. If not I am guessing the bios needs work still.

I will have one of these boards after oct 30th and take a look see.

r.p welcome and thank you very much!

This "solved" the problem... By setting the mem to 400 I got up to 265 htt (didn't try more). Thing is that mem at this low speed kills performance...

Now I have to decide if I will keep the board hopping Asus will solve this problem with a new bios or should I return it for something else... 2nd time with Asus mobo for AMD cpu and again I have problems... I guess this is it...

*chew looking forward to your review as always

I got stuck at exactly 217 on my m4a785td-v evo, but it wasnt the ram settings, I had left cool n quiet on in the bios.
Turned it off and all was fine, you've probably turned it off already, just thought I'd mention it.

chew* its a x4 620 propus core (AD)
I found an other guy with a V-EVO who had to set mem @ 400 (1:2 @ cpu screen) to get higher htt clock. He also has a 620 cpu.
EDIT: Looks like we have a pattern here... We all seem to have x4 620 cpu. I guess r.p also has a 620 (x13 multi) ??

i5L4ND thanks; yes it is disabled (i just checked just in case :p).
btw did you try lower volts (~1.35) for the 3.25Ghz?

Didn't think of trying lower volts, auto set it to 1.4V, could do I suppose as it will clock higher on the same default volts.
I just chose 250 and 3.25GHz, cause it made the memory run at stock speed, with slightly tighter timings, with the 533 ram setting in bios.
Its a propus by the way if your wondering.

I will take a look see after friday, I think I have a similar cpu on the way but I might caution you, don't expect miracles IMC wise with the lower end stuff.

They "AMD" seem to bin the lower end chips with weaker IMC's.

Right now I am @ 216x13=2808 with mem @ 800 divider running @ 1728 which is fine for me. I was looking forward to run it at ~260x13 with mem ~1700 which is ok for my everyday tasks.
I know that I won't get a great IMC with a 620 but running ddr3 @ 1000 is realy slow and it is not IMC problem. I hope asus fix this soon...

By the way the guy in asus forums who has the same htt problem tried a sempron 140 and x2 240 so it is not only x4 620 having this problem.

I'm using 904, here's a shot of my current setup with the 785TD-M and a 620. CPU volt set to Auto, all other to Auto.

I bumped the mem volt up a bit and I can't enable ACC/Unleashing, but this is a solid 24/7 setup (used for encoding/compiling).

No, I don't think so. I am using Ocz Plat 1333, the cheaper one.

My mem is not o/c'd (yet), set at divider 400 (1:2), mem volts to 1.59 (first yellow number), timings are 7,7,7,16,27. NB is set to x9, htt link set to 1600Mhz.

Have you tried the normal stuff?

    -set htt to 1000Mhz
-set nb to x6 or lower
    -set mem to 400

then move fsb up and make sure it POSTs.

Also, turn ACC off, my propus appears to have a defective L3.

ok, could you try mem at 533 (or 666) loose timings (8 or 9) and try 220 htt?

It is not about stability... I cannot even post if I set anything else than mem divider 400 and raise htt above 217 (while I am stable at 260 htt with mem @ 400 divider)

Yeah, there's something weird going on. I can't get a post if I go to mem div 667. I think the div is not working right in the bios.

Can you run htt @ 200 and mem div at 533 (3:8)?
