Looking forward to seeing your results. We have a very similar set up, even including the rads. You posted several times in my about water blocks on the i7. Even though gabe said that I can't use the gtz 775 back plate on the P55 FTW, I still did. Well to be honest, I put the rig together before he replied and I wasn't going to use the stock cooler.
I think that the temps could be better and this can be attributed to the gtz's fitment. The back plate doesn't sit completely flush due to the socket's backplate screws. I still tightened it down and hoped for the best. Last time that I stressed the chip, it was running 4.2ghz with 1.37v under load with vdroop control enabled. It seems that when enabled, vcore shoots up when under load. With it disabled, vcore drops as is to be expected. Well, my temps were around 67°c with 80°F ambient.
Also, you said that your batch should be a decent clocker. Have you found a compiled list of batch numbers for the i5?
I was waiting on the MB (which I have now, pics to come later tonight) so I could do a quick test run on air. Just want to make certain everything runs, then the block will get installed.
Don't worry, I will post pics. Maybe even some naked GTX295 pics.
That was one of the reasons for getting the EVGA board. I thought I could get away with using the HK with the 775 kit. I then saw your thread showing it sitting at an angle and figured i should just wait for the socket 1156 bracket.
I just started searching for reviews online and ran across a review where they had that batch number and got it over 4.0. I forget the voltage though. So it seems it should be ok, we will find out soon enough though.![]()

The EVGA P55 FTW has arrived!!!!!!!!!!
It was unharmed in its trip too. It is a great looking board too. Sorry about the photo quality in this one, but I have the fluorescent lights in my apartment. Saves on the electric bill though.
I will post some more photos later on when I get it hooked up to test everything.

Kinda late to the party here but it's great to see a worklog from you, Miller!
Hopefully it won't deter you from being so helpful to others.

I really do like that boardI wish more companies would throw out the "Lets mix 12 colors into one board" idea, and go with stuff like this more often.

I'm going to run a quick bench test tomorrow, so we will get some photos of that beast mounted on the board then. If everything checks out, that EK blocks gets its new home and I can work on sleeving that PSU.
Same here. It really is a nice looking board and it looks pretty well laid out. Hopefully tomorrow I can try to get a better picture of it. Got delayed at school, so missed the sunlight today.
Thanks much. I'm certain it won't. You can double post my buildlog any day.![]()

Lookin' good, mt!!!
( a hint on the photos with flourescent light - check your camera to see if it has a "white balance" setting - you can set it for the lights). But, no biggie, we are just happy to see your new parts arrive![]()
Thanks Shazza. Yea, I found that setting, but still didn't look that great. I guess I can't expect alot from this Panasonic point and shoot.
Update time!
I just got done hooking everything up on the desktop and nothing went boom. I guess that means everything is ok right?
More good news, Gary has gotten some GT 1850s in it seems, so I got that on order. Now the only thing that is left is that mounting kit for the HK.
On to the photos:
I took this one to show the onboard controls. I was impressed by the switch there. It allows you to pick between 3 BIOS. That's a nice touch.
Well, it seems I can start sleeving that PSU and work on that GTX295. I suspect that there should be picks of a naked, and the a properly clothed GTX295 showing up soon.![]()
Thanks for looking in everyone.![]()

Looking good, mt! Nice foot![]()
(Pics are looking better. Your Panasonic P&S should be up to the task. Sounds like overkill, but a cheap tripod will also be a big help. And then there's lighting ... a whole 'nother story. Still trying to learn all this stuff myself, but find it fun to combine photography and the building process).
Man that board is amazing looking, might have to pick one up.
I'm very impressed with it. It looks great and seems to have performance to match. I took a quick look in the bios settings and seems to have plenty of options there to aid in OC'ing.
I had taken a few photos, tore everything back down and went looking. The best photo had my foot in it.![]()
Yea, I been thinking about finding a cheap tripod. I take like 15 photos for each one you see trying to get the best one I can.![]()

I am pretty sure you can get a cheap tripod on newegg or somewhere, those photo are not bad for a regular DC. Keep up the good work.
Yea, might be able to find one at MicroCenter or Bestbuy too. I'll look around before final photo shoot. Thanks much.
Here's tonight's update.
Got to work on that GTX295. There is a pretty revealing photo coming up. I would reccommend waiting till the wife or girlfriend leaves the room. I wouldn't want you guys getting in trouble.
Naked GTX295![]()
And now she has on her pretty black dress. I got to say, it fits her just right.
It is time consuming work installing that block. So many thermal pads. I got to say the final result was worth it though.
I got sent off my orders to PPC and Petra for a few more supplies. I still need to tear down the case and prep it for its trip off to the powdercoater. I think I will work on that this weekend.
I am still up in the air on the waterblock. I'm still waiting on HK to get their 1156 kit out. I see everyone is still sold of their blocks too. I just put a call into CrazyPCs and they may be getting the new Swifty block in. I think I am going to give HK a few more weeks and if still no go. I'm just going to bite the bullet and switch over.
As always, thanks for looking in.![]()

Nice looking work MT
Love EVGA boards, they always seem to go that extra yard, without filling the board with semi-useless features.

Looking great, MT. Love the whole brown-chicken-brown-cow pR0n nakedness of it all. And a great looking block as well
Incidentally, do you get pedicures?

Naw, she looks way too sexy in that back dress. She a bit said though as she be all dressed up with no date.![]()
Think only thing that will please her now is the bad boy Cosmos.
She too classy for the cardboard box, but she might be ok taking a ride the TJ07.

It's so nice you noticed. The real funny thing was that was the only photos with toes in it, and it was the one that came out the best.
Yea, can't wait to get it installed. That external panel seems pretty nice too. I took a look over it and seems you have jumpers to be able to shut down the PCI slots if you need to trouble shot. Nice touch there too.
Thanks for the comments guys.![]()

Hasn't left out yet. Been busy with school, so haven't had time to strip the old computer down and make the cuts for the second rad. I've got a guy that should be able to turn it around in a couple of days. It is going to be at least a week for me as all the shops I could find are about 30 miles away.
Plus the upgrade is to my main gaming rig so doing my best to keep from it being down too long.![]()

That ECP can be really useful :p Nothing worse than trying to pin point a possible problem on WC'd video cards!
Had it mounted on the front of my HAF, but it is a tad cheesey looking, so will just use when I need it on Doris. These is a guy on the EVGA forums called Afterburner, now he put his on his MM and it looked really good, trouble is it was months ago and had no joy trying to find his thread.
