probably is my sucking at pictures....

    he means the 50mm F/1.8
its 90-110 bucks and worth every single penny.
you couldnt spend another 250-300 and get the 50mm F/1.4 but there are certain f-stop's where the F/1.8 model is equal and supposedly sometimes better.
if you have an extra $100 for a lens go get the 50mm f/1.8,,, you'll love it.

the T1i compared to the 7D isnt MASSIVE but the t1i is junk... pure junk as far as i am concerned.

plus the 7D is in an entirely different class.

I mean to disable the AF for the lens so lens can be MFed. I know of the AF button on the back and it is very useful and works to AF in video.
If you use a lens with a sonic motor (for Canon it's USM) you don't need to shut off AF to manual focus. You can just turn the ring to adjust it. By disabling AF on the shutter button, the camera won't focus every time you press the shutter button to take a pic.

i am not sure why, but canon thinks its ok to put it there, right where your damn hand is.. its stupid.

That LED you pointed out to was what I thought the AF Assist was. But it isn't. That light is the self-timer (2sec or 10sec) and red-eye reduction lamp!
    Looks deceiving doesn't it?

The Nikon and Sony have theirs in the same spot and theirs work for AF Assist, self-timer and remote control.

I was gonna get this lens however if I were ever to AF in video, the AF sound will be recorded in the audio as well since the non USM lenses are pretty loud and the mic is too close to the lens.
    I've always wanted the Sigma 50mm f/1.4
It is more expensive than the Canon 50mm f/1.4 but it is sharp corner to corner and has HSM.

I can´t deny resolution of 7D output.. its sharpness and detail is impressive.. but I can´t help myself, I liked Sony colors more.. dunno why. Not sure if its calibraton of my LCD, but I see some greenish tint on most of photos. But it looks like really good cam, almost tempted to buy one.

No sure about the greenish tint. I do warm up my photos a little just cause I like the warmer look.
I've only been shooting mRAW which I believe is 10-11MP and not the full 18MP RAW.

Like I said before, I was totally happy with my Sony but I really wanted video so here I am.

I believe the Sony colours are due to the Minolta glass. It's known as the Minolta colours. They had a separate Colour Science department back in the day to produce desired colours via lens coatings.
The only 2 other lenses I wish I had on my Sony were the Minolta 35mm f/2 and the 85mm f/1.4

ya know there are adapters to use your minolta glass on that 7D... check fotodiox.com under the adapters section and then 35mm adapters.
not sure why they call them 35mm adapters other than they were meant to use 35mm film lenses on digital cameras but they dont have to be film lenses per say.

    check them out.

you also asked earlier about the manual mode and the big feris wheel.
i just got my 40D back so i couldnt remember until now how it worked.
your on off switch has 3 settings.
    Off
    On
and On w/ multi control dial.
the third setting is the furthest setting on the on button, it shows a line pointed to the feris wheel.

this not only allows full control but allows you to use the feris wheel in other program modes to adjust +/- settings.

dont forget everything you need is a button, aside from some more indepth things like iso expansion and flash sync and a few others. basically everything you need is already a button on the camera.
you'll learn to like how everything is right there when using A-DEP (i still havent figured out what this mode is there for) Manual, AV, TV, and P mode. (same with P mode,,, what Program is it running for P mode,, i dont get it.

i typically use AV mode for fstop control and then use the feris wheel to drop the shutter speed to -1 or -2. (or not at all)

The 7D only has On-Off and it is on the left side now. All existing Canon owners say that it is a totally different camera and reading the manual is a must since it's quite a redesign with lots more new features added in.
Not too bad for me since I'm starting from scratch and don't have to reprogram my brain like the ones who upgraded from 40D and 50D.
