Yes, it's a very weird situation. It's meant to be power user and not overclocker, but then there's this oc challenge with two of the most tweakable bm's there are. I dont know how Giga wanted to distinguish Ocers and Power users, this was work for chosen Forum admins ... But in first rules was clearly wrote "NOT FOR WELL KNOWN OC FACES"!!!! In first wave has been promoted some Forum users from many forums, that local Giga PR contacted. But many of PR had a call from angry real Ocers "WTF, chosen ppl are noob, i want to go ..." and they are going now. And against OC Masters are common Power users from forum without chance ... then must go from every country real Ocers. But for them will be GOOC 2010, not primary this event ... but after all is.

By Gigabyte is Power user not well known , but efficient Ocer ... that was initial instruction for this event. In every country is many power users good like known OC faces from worlds competition ... but without money and good conections to vendors. For them was planned this event ... for new blood of OC.

If so, I still fail to see any reason to pick SuperPI 32M and 3DMark01. I do get why it's air cooling only, however

People, I know one thing. This is a fixed frequency tweaking competition. You can be a heavy-weight tweaker without money and connections, yo don't need expensive hardware to run at 4GHz. But....are you a better tweaker then a "well known overclocker"?
OBR - if you feel that is the case, please step aside and let some young blood ffrom your country go to this event.

For "High-end" power users is another competition .... GOOC 2010 with Core i9 + X58 + High end GFX, LN2, pots and everything like this ... there will be well known OC faces ... this Event should be different at start ... something new for no faces which we can see everywhere where OC is ... like AOOC, MOA, GOOC etc.
Gigabyte wanted different event for another ppls, forum power users, chosen by known forum admins in each country ... spirit of TweaKING was midrange platform, no LN2, no breaking WRs etc ...
In first official rules for event was "this is not Event for known Ocers", this is not from my head but from Gigabyte ... but after that some storm has begun, many of YOU was angry a and felt injured and some Giga PRs was bombed calls like this" OMG, i want to go there" ...
Ok, Giga changed rules and now are going real Ocers, because is not possible compete Big names and forum chosen Power users ...
PS. Situation in Our country was weirdest, and at first real two forum power users was chosen : Kamikadze+Highlander. But after that some editors from media called PR, that they wants to go. Ok in terms of good relationship with Giga and CZ+SK media are going only media guys ... but i cannot to do something with this situation ... anyway we in CZ + SK dont have real Ocers ...

This "competition" is so confusing. You just said above that they don't want real OCers, which I take it means guys who compete at the top-end. So then you mention two relative no name guys which is great, and then say your country has no OCers and will be instead sending editors..
he's saying editors contacted GB PR and convince them to drop the two "no-name" OCers and take them instead.

Some kinda situation here, GB PR asked 2 power users from our site, so I and Puunakki were picked from mato78.com, then came the interesting silence from GB PR. Eventually Sampsa and Petri was picked from muropaketti.
PS. SF3D what are you flaming about and telling me to get things straight since situation is what it is at this moment? You shouldn't have anything to do with picking contestants or organising this competition. Neither do i and hopefully you neither.
