But you can still continue to post any or all of the fud news if you want in this new section. The good in this would be that the people who likes reading "plausible" accurate rumors and people that only wants to read about facts are separated so you get rid of the undesired comments. I would still personally read both sections because I think it would be boring to only read facts.
The standard on the news section currently is so low due to all the spam comments, on many other forums they had even started handing out temporary bans in order to get some control over it but I've always seen XS mods as very friendly that aren't nitty-picky and control-freaks which I appriciate but instead the forum can get quite cluttered at times.
With the increased popularity these sites have got (and just look at the mount fud news posted, like half of the actual facts posted on page one for example), I really see it as a good thing to separate them, the "Xtreme Rumor Mill" section certainly wouldn't be unused/unvisited if that's what you're afraid of, I'm more worried about News section getting fewer visitors but then again who cares because isn't news really meant to educate people about what's going on in first place?
For me the only plausible disadvantage that would follow from a moderator-point-of-view is that some people might have problem with posting them in the appropriate sections so mods might have to move some threads but for me it doesn't really matter if a few topics are posted in the wrong section, it's not such a big deal and I honestly believe most people are competent in posting them in the appropriate section.
