Asus M4A785TD-V EVO oc help please

hi all i got my new rig when my old 939 system died last week.
    I got an athlonII x4 620 with a 785g mobo and 4gig 1333 ram corsair xms3.
The problem i have is i can oc the chip upto 3.38ghz 13x260,but only if the memory divider is set to ddr 400. It wont boot at 533 even though it is still under spec.i have spent a week exhausting all my options,i think.its just 3.38 is at 1.4vcore and it wont post after 261 fsb im sure there is more to get and i would realy like some help from you experts.and also from you who have the 785td-v evo mobo could you list your oc's and or settings

    thank you in advance

Have you lowered your HT link or NB freq? if not they will prob be set to high as they will rise with CPU ratio

vcas5: I have that board in my HTPC box. I've haven't tried very hard to OC it, but I have played around a little....

I've never messed with the AthlonII X4's, but since you have a locked multi and you have no choice but to OC using the HT Ref clock. Here are few suggestions based on my experience with Phenoms:

    1) 261 on the HTRef is pretty high. Try adding a little more Voltage to the HT Overvolt setting in bios. If your running into a wall with it you may be getting close to it's limit. All of my chips are unlocked, I only use HTRef to tweak other components after I have everything else settled down (especially RAM)...

    2) Keep in mind that the HTRef clock effects ALL other clocks (except PCI-e). So when you raise it your also raising CPU/IMC and Ram clocks, (HTRef X CPUmulti/IMCmulti and Mem divider).
EX: If your Mem is set for 1333 (200x666) and you raise the HTRef to 260 the resulting Mem speed will be 1731 (260x666)...

    3) Set the "Loadline Calibration" to around 13%. I had some trouble with this setting on AUTO when I was playing around with it. 13% seems to smooth out volatages and stop some of the erratic swings.

    4) Until you figure out what the CPU cores will do (Max Stable/Under Load) try to keep the IMC/NB and the HTLink speeds close to stock using the multis (2000Mhz on Phenoms).
Dropping then all the way down to 4x may offer more problems than benefits!

    5) Be sure to flash to the newest Bios (0410). The early ones where really quirky!!

I hate to say it, but since you can't change the CPU Multi you may be reaching the limit of what you can achieve. Running really high HTRef clocks will be your biggest problem.
You might be able to squeeze a little more by adding voltage to the HT bus, but 261 is actually pretty good IMHO...

I started a thread on this board when I first bought it. It may offer you a little more info....
