its my first time etching so go easy lol its not the best but im happy with it.

well i didnt design the image myself, unfortunately im not that artistic. i just printed the image i wanted and stuck it under the plexi and traced it. lol what about the rest of the case needs work??? im in sydney

As constructive criticism, I'd think you should somehow 'frame' your window. Like, sand out the area over the hard drives so your etching doesn't end so abruptly.


What did you use to etch it? I used a box cutter blade and it took a while to get any area covered...

They make stuff for this, its a liquid that you apply that frosts the plastic. You use some vinyl, and cut the image out of the vinyl and apply the picture to the window. then you clean and peel off the vinyl to have your image. Another way is to just use vinyl, they have frosted clear vinyl u can use, that is also removeable later on.

That liquid sounds pretty nifty. But, I think using a Dremel would be too fast for me; I would have banana'd something up in the window.

Sorry i took so long to reply. i got my neons. it was ment to be a kit of two but i received one broken . so im still waiting on the second one. here is some photos in the mean time of just the single light installed.

I decided i didnt like being able to see the light source so i hid it.

my camera (phone) doesnt do it justice, it looks alot brighter in person. but it definately needs the 2nd neon, as you see from this pic, the light doesnt fully reach the top of the etching.

I apreciated the idea, but i kind of like how it just ends, IMO it makes it stand out more. Also i like being able to see my components through the window, frosting the entire thing would make it dificult to see, especially with the lights. I used a dremel. i recommend turning it down to a lower speed. Get some practice in with some scrap bits of acrylic, once you get used to it its fairly easy + quicker. and i would think as it cuts deeper into the acrylic it would pick up the light alot better (compared to just scratching the surface)

That liquid stuff sounds very interesting. got any links of people who have used it, i wouldnt mind checking it out myself for future designs.

Thanks for the kind words . by no means is it anywhere as good as some of the mods on this forum. but its a simple, effective way to personalise your pc .

lol ahhah just realised the switch i got for the neons has an option to make the light dance to music, so i made a video. i only ever have it on or off but this was pretty cool. i have my case sitting next to my sub so the light flashes to the bass. (kinda of) WARNING: music has swearing...sorry if it offends.
