Sorry if I missed it some where in the thread, but does anyone have any suggestions on how to sleeve right angle SATA cables??

I take it your cable has right angles on both ends? I am not sure if you could get the sleeve over the plug and still keep it from fraying.... All the cables I have used have had at least one end that was straight.

However if someone has a way it will turn up in this thread

Yep, dual right angle connectors. I'm using the MDPC-X SATA sleeving but the problem really seems to be getting the heatshrink over. Thanks for the help though Dangals and quick response!

To keep your ends from fraying just use a hot knife to seal the ends. Then you can wiggle it all around and get it just how you want it and keep it nice and pretty. I couldn't have sleeved tubing without it.

Once I cut my sleeving, I hit both ends with a lighter really quick and that stops the fraying also (no hot knife ). Now the problem is figuring out how to get SATA heatshrink over the 90 degree connector.

you may need to shave the edges of the connectors a bit

on previous page elzhi asked how to cut heatshrinks of equal length, here is my solution:

I made the template for different (previously measured) lengths using flat piece of packaging foam and knife


then put the heatshrink inside and just cut it with scissors snuggled to the foam


the result is pretty good, but I would like to improve this "device". It can be some kind of this foam template made of plastic with cutted holes of different lengths (e.g. 5,6,7,8,9mm) and rotating blade, kinda like manual knifes for plate steel.

Anyway even in this state this thing really saves my time

I just wanted to say that MDPC-X is probably the best retailer I have ever dealt with. I'm sure many of you already know this, but I just wanted to say it here again!

Has anyone sleeved any of the new Corsair Series? for the life of me, I cant get the pci-e pins out.... i've ruined 2 cables now because i've pulled out the wire, not the pin :S
Any advice?

oh yes, i know the problem ...

Corsair use bad Connectors they don´t fit 100%, so it can be that the pins can´t get out and if you pull the cable you have the cable without the pin in the hand.

i think here you use the screwdiver techniqe to get the pins out (the brooken too ).

Yeah, just like fhantastic said, he helped me, thanks again fhantastic! I have an HX1000 and couldn't get some out. I took a small flathead jewelers screwdriver and twisted 180 degrees on one side, then did it again on the other side and they finally came out! To fhantastic's idea!

If you want to use heatshrink over the right angle you'll have to use the larger black heatshrink which only comes with the MDPC-X Jumbo pack, it's not for individual sale but email Nils

well,
I already distroyed 2 pcie cables doing it lol so I just went and picked up and Enermax psu.... a 620 instead of 750..... (the 750 was overkill anyways)
I'll take some pics when I can get favorable lighting

You haven't really destroyed the Corsair. It's not hard to recrimp new pins on the ends where they've come out ...

I use white paper, a tripod and my wonderful windowsill.
Nothing else!
