I'm not an engineer, but I can see the industry is in need of a few new ones.

yes it's definitely late. This is a damage control showing to stop the sale of 5000 cards. It'll be here by Christmas, and it'll be faster than a 5870.

    looks short.
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

guess that isnt the gtx380 (or what ever it will be called) cut down version? would make sense this early only cut down versions are working if they just got their first batch of chips in.

No the picture is of the highend G300 variant, it is just that the board layout/design of the power connectors is something we have seen before.

People have confirmed that the card in the picture, with the 8pin showing on the end, also has a 6pin.

When other 40nm variants get cancelled, you have got problems...
And actually there is a current NDA for some Nvidia info, plus one NDA just expired.

Was talking about the assumption that it will be faster than a 5870.I'm sure lots of people will be dissappointed in this card too, seeing the hype surrounding it.The same hype that surrounded the 5870....

Well you think it's slower than a 5870? there is no fact or nda-breaking proof or benchmark to back up that assumption.

    Think of it like 48701g x 2.2 = 58701gb, actual performance 48701gb x 1.7
    and.... gtx280 x 2.4 = gtx380. where would you place a gtx380's performance?

certainly not slower than a 5870? I'm guessing it will be the same gap that was between a gt200 and rv770. A repeat of last generation, or slightly faster for Nvidia.

I don't see why the single gpu could be 8+6pin after seen GTX285 6+6pin prolly on a GX2 version which is normal...

Do you guys not read? It's a TELSA unit, not Geforce! Jen-Hsun Huang mentioned he won't be showing Geforce until later.

You do realize that they use the same silicon right?

There's more to power consumption than just the GPU. Obviously workstation cards don't need as much power as bleeding edge, envelope-pushing enthusiast graphics cards.
