When AMD had 64-bit and Intel had only 32-bit, they tried to tell the world there was no need for 64-bit. Until they got 64-bit.
When AMD had IMC and Intel had FSB, they told the world "there is plenty of life left in the FSB" (actual quote, and yes, they had *math* to show it had more bandwidth). Until they got an IMC.
When AMD had dual core and Intel had single core, they told the world that consumers don't need multi core. Until they got dual core.
When intel was using MCM, they said it was a better solution than native dies. Until they got native dies. (To be fair, we knocked *unconnected* MCM, and still do, we never knocked MCM as a technology, so hold your flames.)by John Fruehe

NO WAI!
i believe radeon 6870 will be faster than gt300. and the 6870x2 will be faster than the gt300 "gx2" (i'm wondering how he even came up with gx2, as it wasn't used since the 9800gx2...) as well! so, do i get my own news by fudzilla now?
*edit* btw... i saw the benchmarks (which are also in the techpowerup leakage collection) where they tested wolfenstein with AA. since AA doesn't work in wolfenstein for 4800 series cards i'm wondering if it'll work flawlessly with the 5800 series?

Source Tweakers.netNew update, temperatures and fan speed.
Idle, check also the GPU and memory clock.
Idle @ 20%
Idle @ 50%
Idle @ 100% (Like a hairdryer!)
Load test, stressed the GPU to 75%.
Load @ 20% (91° and rising)
Load @ 30% (default fan speed, stable at 75°)
Load @ 50%
Load @ 100%
Finally stressed the GPU to 95%, but the temperature was not rising.

So we can expect real benchmarks soon? What's the point of them covering that part when the first pic shows everything? Very nice idle temps.
Mistake? I saved the pic anyway, just in case.
Anyway, they seem to be fakes.
20 % Fan, 75 % load on GPU: 91 C
30 % Fan, 75 % load on GPU: 75 C
30 % Fan, 95 % load on GPU: 74 C
Right.![]()
If anything, the pics may be telling that the temp/noise levels will be around the same that of HD4k series cards. Afterall, they use the same fan and the temps seem to be quite close.
good test with fan speed and temps
but whats the highest quiet and inaudible settings?

What's probably true here is the issue with temp and noise will be the same with 4800 series. In that case, what we got to know is if the sockets are still the same so that aftermarket heatsinks that used to fit 4800's will fit these... Can't bear that stock fan of theirs.
It's funny that he blanked out his monitor text (the stuff in square brackets) in all but the first image. I don't get that.
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.
Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.
Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.
Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.
Rule 3:
When it comes to computer news, 70% of Internet rumors are outright fabricated, 20% are inaccurate enough to simply be discarded, and about 10% are based in reality. Grains of salt--become familiar with them.
Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!
Random Tip o' the Whatever
You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.
I don't care about their reasons behind the stuff they spit out, but the information is clearly false. It does not make sense any way. UNLESS, the load figures don't come from the same program. E.g. other one(95 %) is random game and other(75 %) is Furmark. And in that case, the information is still false.
What I suspect is that the 95 % load figure is taken like half a minute after the load started, and the 75 % figure is taken 30 minutes since the load started. "But but full load regardless".

Good to see powerplay working full swing, hopefully the auto fan speed control will actually work this time around as well.

As I said in my post, in that case the information is still false, or at least misleading. Holding absolutely zero value and misleading anyone who believes in it. Garbage, BS.
The 75 % and 95 % values hold no information if the values and the temps aren't measured with same software stressing the GPU. AND I am sure that EVERYONE knows this. Just pulling off stunts like this is just as BS as pulling the values off from ones hat. Selective results. PR at it's best. No value for the end user. Misleading information.

those fanspeed and temp values look weird indeed...
So the mem clocks throttle down now too? That should make for some nice idle power usage stats.
