    Silent 780i Upgrade

    I want to silence my 780i board completely.

    Currently, I have one loop for my CPU & GPU Only:

    MCP655 --> CPU (DD TDX) --> GPU (EK-8800) --> PA120.3 --> Res (EK-RES)

    I also have a bunch of spare parts
    • MCP350
    • MCP650 - (kind of loud for silentPC)
    • Swiftech MicroRes
    • EK-NB 780i
    • EK-SB VGA 790i
    • DD Black Ice Xtreme Radiator 120.1
    • ViperJohn 780i Mosfet Heatsink Kit (FUTURE)

    Here are my ideas for options:

    One Loop:
    • MCP655 --> CPU (DD TDX) --> GPU (EK-8800) --> EK-NB 780i --> EK-SB VGA 790i --> PA120.3 --> Res (EK-RES) -->

    or
    Two Loops
    • MCP655 --> CPU (DD TDX) --> GPU (EK-8800) --> PA120.3 --> Res (EK-RES)
    • MCP350 --> EK-NB 780i --> EK-SB VGA 790i --> BI 120.1 --> Res (Micro-RES)

    Anyone have suggestions on which way to go? I don't know how much the NB & SB wb would effect the main loop or if adding a second pump and fan would create too much noise. Any suggestions, ideas?

    My current idle temps are e6750@3.7Ghz@34C, 8800GTX@41C (Temps in my sig are wrong)

    Two loops and put the CPU on it's own with the GPU, NB and SB on the other.

    I don't see any reason you couldn't add the board into that loop. You have to turn the pump up a notch, or look at swapping the D5 for the DDC. That would something for you to play with.

    You you are going to break them down to 2 loops, +1 on Norris. I wouldn't use that BIX rad though. Not really designed for silent running. Either get a MCR220-QP or another pa 120.2

    i would go with 1 loop, really not much heat being added to the cooling system with the addition of a NB and SB. Though your temps overall seems pretty high =o although i'm only used to watering amd / ati atm.

    my ambient is 28C and CPU idle is 34C, that only a delta of 6C is that too much of a difference?

    My pump occasionally sucks in some air bubbles due to the orientation of my reservoir. This may bee effecting the current flow and temp. I will change it since i have to remove the board to install the NB & SB blocks. Might actually get better temps after adding the blocks and reorienting the reservoir.

    Oh i also have an EK-D5 X-TOP rev.2 on the way, so that will also help.

    the chipset on the 780i is a whopping 27w in all, had i read a little morebefore water cooling my board i wouldnt have done it... its not worth it for the temps. just run a 60mm fan on the stock heatsink, just remounting the stock cooler and that 60mm should be pretty friggin quiet. i know my YL Mediums on my MCR320 are the loudest part of my system.
