    @ Thor.

Check post 2280 in this thread.

    Hopefully it might help.

Looks like youve tried everything else but just in case:

    Disconnect PSU cables

    Remove battery for 15 min

Then reassemble with only one stick of ram in the second closest slot to CPU and minimum other components (VGA + PSU + CPU + Cooler) and try to boot.

If successful switch to bios 2 (cant remember how, check manual).

If not successful try another stick of ram in same slot.

    Good luck

I am a proud owner of Rampage II Extreme Motherboard for 6 months now and there has been no problem until yesterday.
The computer was working fine until it froze and stayed like that, after a reset the computer wouldn't post and LCD poster said "LOCKED" right away.

I tried clearing BIOS, tried 3 graphic cards, tried two CPU-s (both i7 920), two power supplys, changing the RAM slots and booting with only one RAM stick, taken the BIOS battery out for 20 minutes. Everything I could think off I tried but the moment i started the computer LCD poster would say LOCKED every time. The fans spin, HDD works but no post.

I also noticed green RAM LED and CPU LED would no longer turn ON (green LED's that show the CPU and RAM voltage. When starting the computer only BIOS LED would turn on.

I consider myself a power user and everything is connected properly

    System specs are:

    Asus Rampage II Extreme
    Intel i7 920
ThermalRight Ultra 120 Extreme Black CPU cooler
    2x2 GB G.Skill DDR3
    nVidia GTX275
    Corsair HX620 PSU

The system was slightly overclocked to 4 GHz with moderate voltages (was stable for a long time before that), no extreme overclocking was performed

My guess is that the MBO is dead, but i cant be sure.
I've taken apart the whole system 4 times and put it back together but still the same, no post, LCD poster says LOCKED, and CPU and RAM LED's are not turned on

The MBO is under a warranty in a IT store in Croatia but before taking it there let's see if the problem can be solved here.

    Thanks
    -Hrvoje

Have you tried forceing the mobo to use bios2 with the bios-select jumper ?

Thanks for the tip, but I tried that too

Yupp, tried both BIOS with no luck

I think the most important thing here is that the green RAM and CPU voltage LED's do not turn on, and I dont know why.
Only the yellow BIOS LED is turned on

Posted this problem on ASUS support forums too.

    Could be a dying PSU.

Have you got another PSU to test with?

    EDIT:

    Just remembered!

    Check your clear cmos jumper.

I had a board once that displayed exactly the same symptoms as yours because the clear cmos jumper was damaged and not connecting properly....

Just swap it with another jumper and have another go...

Tried 2 PSU's, 2 CPU's, 3 GPU's, 2 different kits of DDR3 RAM (also tried booting with one stick of RAM in different slots)...

But have you tried replacing the clear cmos jumper?

No, I haven't, I will try, but tomorrow, now I have to go to work, working nightshift

But I don't know why the jumper would make any difference... the RAM and CPU LED do not turn on...

Yes it does sound like your board has died but checking the jumper is worth a try

Ok so I need some help here. I'm overclocked to 4.2ghz. Temp max out at 65 on water. I've ran Prime stable for 26 hours (13 hours small FFT, 13 hours large FFT) rock ass solid. I can play every game I own, which is a lot. But the system crashes on both Crysis and Crysis Warhead and only those to games. Ive tried overclocking and underclocking the graphic cards. Ive tried it with GPU fans on max to rule out overheating of Cards (75 and 72 degrees on both cards GTX260 Sli) Ive tried restalling the game several times and no joy. Am I missing something?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    System Info:
    i7 920 D0 @ 4.2 ghz (1.26 V @ 21X200)
12 gigs Corsair RAM (9-9-9-24-2t set loose to help with 6 stick overclock)
    GTX 260 core 216 Sli

Motherboard settings set to jasonelmore's recommendations.

Sounds like a driver issue, u running sli, try changing drivers, or a sli profile update...

I finally got my rampage set up with a 920 D0. But it can't boot. Screens are just black, and the LCD says LOCKED. I tried searching the thread, but the answers so far have been concerning OCing, and I haven't even touched this board yet.

All cables are plugged in. The TRUE is mounted properly. All system lights are on (including the bios led, which concerns me). The 4870 is powered on, and the monitors are functioning on another PC.

    edit:
Googled around a bit, and someone said that it's only possible to use dimm1 if all ram slots are populated. I'll try changing ram slots.

    edit2:
Holy shat it worked. That's pretty weird if you ask me, but whatever. I HAVE I7 NOW

Hey Ace thanks a lot. It was the SLi profiles. I really didn't think that it would make a difference because the update was for newer games but it did!!!
Crysis isnt that great of a game but I hate the fact that I payed for a game that wont run (Hope you're reading this Microsoft...Gears of WAR).

Well, I'm a little concerned about my temps. On my old Q6600, idle temps would be about 25C @ stock (stock volts too). idle temps on my 920 is 38C :O Afraid I may have to reseat my TRUE, though I'm pretty sure it's prefectly mounted.

All of the ASUS x58 boards are like that. Always use the A1, B1 & C1 DIMM with 3x2Gb kits:

    Rampage III extreme 602 bios
    ASUS 5970 + ASUS 5850

now I just need to tweak my RAM, and hopefully I'll be able to clock my 920 to something above 3GHz without the heat going crazy :/

Can the BIOS be configured so that the mobo will automatically shutdown if the RPM reported through the CPU fan header drops to zero?

I've connected my pump RPM sensor wire to the mobo's CPU fan header and I can see the resulting RPM in the BIOS; however, I'd like the PC to automatically shutdown if there is a pump failure and the RPM reading drops to zero.
