wow, looks like a nice performance boost. i'm wondering why ati doesn't promote the 9.9 as such? there's no hint at better performance in the changelog.

what's your OS? vista or 7?

ok so how successful is a "simple uninstall old, install new" lately, if even that (do you just install on top)?
do i need to go get driver cleaner and worry?

Might work for you but ATI recommends, uninstall & reboot than install and reboot.

Not for Windows Vista, according to AMD's Dave Baumann.

Catalyst Install Manager does the uninstall and reinstall by itself and doesn't need rebooting.

1 or 2 percent of total volume like intel likes to do. And with the trouble intel seems to be having with they're attempt, it [32nm] doesn't look like a very mature process.
AMD has always been quicker to a mature process and crossover point, so by the time intel gets their issues and volume sorted out, AMD won't be very far behind at all.

I'm running Cat 9.9 right now as well. I don't have any pre-9.9 benchmarks to compare to but it seems like it fixed the BSOD I was getting in L4D which is good.

I can't wait to get a 5870 and use these drivers. Hopefully I can then max out ArmA2. AMD is executing well these days.

Odd.....Have Vista and haven't had to reboot after installing new Catalyst drivers in a loooong time....honestly, cannnot remember the last time installing new Cat. drivers required a reboot. And always have installed the new ones without uninstalling the old. Do the same on my XP machine, same outcome....no reboot required, not uninstall/reinstall crap.

Catalyst drivers just uninstall themselves and then install the new ones...no drama, no rebooting, nothing. They just work and have been for a long time now.
