50% more? Should be a bit more than that since this should be ~90-105% of a GTX295 (or >=2x4890). If we get similar scaling as now it would be 60-70% faster at least.

Lucky for me this guy already answered for me.

People have always thought of each shader/stream processor as a "core" thx in part to marketing. Cypress is dual core because of two identical shader arrays consisting of 10 simd clusters each (like a rv770 but modernized w/ dx11 @ 40nm) TMU, ROP, MC Logic shared, working as "SFR crossfire on a die". This is only my opinion... so no the logic does not correlate between calling rv870 "dual core" and gt200 "240 core". What correlates is rv870 = dual core, rv770/790 = single core, gt200 = single core

I guess ^this^ is just because of the one fake dualcore RV870 die shot that Chiphell barfed upon us.

Bottom line, your hardly qualified to even try to correct me when there are many
much more reputable sources than your imagination that say different.

At least now you agree in principal that it is a 'dual core' gpu.

are you going to call gt200 a quad core then ?

    Example of such reputable sources?
    Chiphell? Random forum posts?
Hardware.info? (<- the same site that is known to post whatever they see on forums, eg. once they posted my own ramblings/speculation on RV790...)
    Theo's brightside?

    No. I do not.

    Nice attitude, btw.

I hope the 2 intake vents cool the card adequately.

All systems sold. Will be back after Sandy Bridge!

    ^Uh?
There's one big intake - the face of the fan. Just like on previous Radeon coolers.

    Techincally no
The Cypress isn't two interlinked GPU's cores
Yes they did double SIMD cores, but it has still only single command processor, single thead processor and a single crossbar, the important bits of the GPU core.

The SIMD cores are modular, you can add or take away as many as you need.

Yes they are. PCI-E connectors are on the side.

The fact that PEG plugs are on the side doesn't mean the holes are intakes.

So the specs are all but confirmed...

Core clock is indeed 850 MHz. Strangely, they made no mention of it being 256-bit... maybe ATI pulled a fast one?

Why would they direct air out the back? I'd want every bit of air a small blower fan can push going over the core heatsink of my 2.1b transistor chip...

Yeah, looks like the 48xx steam processor count scenario all over again where no one knew exactly how many until the last day.

If the 850Mhz clock speed does not match up with most rumors, maybe the same might apply to the memory bus as well!

i really think they should make the cards 1-2 cm taller (or just the heatsink shroud), the power plugs will already extend up, might as well give themselves more room to squeeze in a larger quieter fan.

Is it more, or are not enough people questioning the validity of the crysis benchmark, when there isn't even a damn screenshot.

given that this thing barely uses any power at idol, I shouldn't imagine the fan needs to be very fast at all. When your gaming the noise of the game should drown out the noise from the fan anyway, Unless your one of those who like to stick massive full size atx cases on their desk???

Personally I prefer my case to be concealed under my diy computer desk.

with the new AA 'technique' they're using with the 58xx's 4xAA will probably look the same on a 5870 as 8xAA on a GT200.
