Any specific reason why not? I really think this is worthy of MDPC, just seems better to me than tons of stuff on there. But of course, my word don't matter.

What flaws does this build have that doesn't live up to MDPC? The only thing I could think of was the wire management behind what you see. But I went and looked and most of the computers on there don't have pictures of their management behind the scenes. To me this build has innovation, something different.

I'm not trying to be mean or sounds cruel but is it because it doesn't have sleeving? I realized that all the wires in snipes build don't have actual sleeving(MDPC Sleeving), they have a different - out of the box - idea. Maybe thats why?

I don't even understand what the huge deal is about mdpc. Yea, there are some really cool and nice computers on there, but there are plenty of others that are just as nice that are not featured there. This project is clearly one of the latter, seeing as I have yet to see a negative comment about it and it is winning all kinds of awards on other sites. People should stop worrying about MDPC so much and just enjoy the awesomeness that is this project!

The main things were the easy ones:
Bar-code and similar "non-aesthetically based" stickers on GPU, Pump, PSU. (super easy to fix, but if a person does not like to do it, because the photoshoot can't be done a second time, what can I do? Live with such unneccessary compromises that anyone can fix? Keep a system for a lifetime on a frontpage just because of a day of extra work that wasn't done? ... All other modders took the chance if they had one, because they did not feel attacked, they felt helped and they asked for opinions, not made their opinion themselves about how perfect they are)

The quick & dirty cut (and therefore not very beautiful) in the back of the tray. Another thing that could have been easily fixed by a highly motivated modder.

The rest is just a matter taste and therefore doesn't play a role in decisions, as long as it's not obiously ugly.

Any new rig just needs to be compared with the level that was shown in the last 2 systems. It was a great system, but it has these little things that could have been corrected easily. I guess everyone who turns his brain on a little bit will agree. And even the "first-day modder" would have been able to change it. And if he does like the stickers and hole, because it looks better than without / corrected, so be it. MDPC is a free site and if it doesn't motivate to go for "no-comprromise", then it's not me to be blamed I think.

I am sorry my life (going to college, couldnt retake the photos because I am ~200 miles from my home) got in the way of removing some pieces of paper that are barely visible. If I was a photo-shoppin man I would have just removed the stickers in the computer, you wouldnt be able to tell, but hey I leave the imperfections AND the PERFECTION for people to see.

Cant you ever take the high road and realize how completely insignificant a few serial number bar codes and power labels are? considering everything I have done in this build you are slamming it down over such a trivial thing.

As I have said before, I dont care, I have bigger things to do than a site like MDPC now. I have my own opinions about the whole situations that I wont post in the public, but needless to say, I would rather not show my work there in the future.


EDIT: lastly I did fix the cut on the back of the motherboard, I disassembled the entire build to do it too, I just never took a picture....

I am a bit up in the air about removing the barcodes as if something did happen, there is no way to RMA the part. Seeing MDPC is no compromise and the elite few, I guess i can see that being taken into account.

Anyways, It seems the decision has been made. No matter if this made it on MDPC or not, it is still an awesome build. Good luck with classes Ian.

IMHO, Ian you have a build on MDPC atm. I think Nils is looking for more just like he was when Charles completed Daniel's Murderbox. Daniel's Murderbox was nitpicked as well. The concern has been put forth that Nils was showing favoritism for Charles. I believe he foresees you being able to add more builds to MDPC as each of your builds has been outstanding. Therefore, he wants to make certain that there isn't a chance for anyone to call favoritism on your builds.

Well, sorry Ian but IMHO this build doesn't deserves the MDPC.

I also own a V2110 and for sure the cable magnament its a PITA, but i think there were more elegant solutions for the power cables on the GPUs and the dual pumps.
A 120.4 rad would look better than the 140.3.
The tops on the DCCs should be acetal or plexi, not mixed.
You should put some sleeving on the fans
Also the cover on the back of the 5.25" bays breaks the no compromise rule.
And the most noticeable thing, the stickers on the pumps, GPUs and PSU.

I know this are just little details, and many of them are subjective, but it isn't perfect, what MDPC claims for.

But damn, even not being on MDPC this is still a very great and innovative system.

I am signed up! and I do want to bring it down, but the fact that it is on haloween weekend is a big deal for me... thats one of our largest parties in the fall on sat and also one of our largest fundraisers for charity (we turn the fraternity house into a crazy haunted house and hundreds of people ususally come to see it), very important to me, but we will see.

First, I believe that Ian's build was outstanding and have said so multiple times.

Second, what needs to be considered here is that MDPC judges builds at its sole discretion and owns the right to display any select PC that it wants. None of us have any right to tell Nils what he should and should not let into MDPC. It's his idea in the first place, and his idea is largely responsible for some of the amazing builds that have been presented here recently. If anyone wants an absolute "fair" judging panel then take your project somewhere that the deciding factor doesn't come down to a single individual and his close peer group. Enter your rig into a contest where the judging is based strictly on public voting instead.

Third, as much as I hate to say it (because I do believe that Flow was a great accomplished work of art and far better than anything I have ever done,) there were compromises on this build that were made public. The nibbler job on the motherboard tray, although I respect Sniipe for being up front and honest in showing it, was a major distraction from the rest of the build which was approaching flawless. So was the initial wiring job. There were obviously factors such as the time that Sniipe had to work on it, but Nils shouldn't be chastised for these things because they are not of his concern. He's clearly stated what his objective is, which is "no compromises," and if someone does not follow that advice to be advertised on his site, then on what basis do we lay blame at him for following through with his objective?

Fourthly, if you're trying to get your rig displayed on MDPC, then it's probably not a good idea to get yourself in petty spats with the site owner like Sniipe has done on a few occasions. Tends to create a little friction and may impact future decisions that are made.

And lastly, although I respect MDPC and its intent, a build is not a failure if it doesn't make it on there, and some of us need to realize that. If by chance I build a PC that makes it into several blogs and magazines, as it appears that Flow is, then I myself would consider that a great accomplishment and just move onto the next project.

Sniipe, Flow is truly the most incredible build i have ever laid eyes on. I guess some people just fail to think about the time constraints that you had, and the fact that you fixed the "flaws" afterwards.
