    One last gasp

I'm going to give my IP35-E one last shot in the arm before sending it off to motherboard Valhalla. Been running with an OC'd E2200 for quite some time; I'd like to know from anyone left using this board what is the best bang for the buck, most overclockable CPU this thing can handle nowadays - using BIOS v.18? Price should be up to about $150 or so, but if I can get equal performance with better OC'ing for less money I'll take it.

yeah I'm still using one. I mean at this point in time, if you've got a s775 c2, just stick with it for the time being until i5/i7 falls in price. Really nothing at all wrong with our c2's, but it's not worth throwing more money at it at this point in time.

    I love my ip35e for the most part. Ran my e6400 @ 3.6ghz, and runs my e8400 @ 4.0ghz.

Only complaint is that it doesn't seem to set subtimings properly if you leave it on auto-- way too tight.

I've had the Q6600 running at 3.6Ghz (9x400FSB) on mine for about 18 months now, still no need to upgrade as I don't use anything that particularly stresses my system. The PWM temps take a hammering under load though, I had to put a small fan on the sinks to keep them cool.

As Ziddey said I wouldn't bother going for another 775 chip in your case, I would keep the cash and go for an i7 setup at a later date.

Been only vaguely keeping track of the i5/i7 progress. What's the estimate for when these things will be at their sweet spot in price?

Honestly, I'd still be with my E6400. Absolutely nothing wrong with it @ 3.6ghz. Was just itching for an upgrade, after having owned it for two years. Moved to California (Fry's Land), and caved in to a good deal on an E8400.

P35 DDR2 platform is still very good and very cheap. DDR3 is more sideways even still, but after being around for a year or two now, it's finally starting to become more of the norm. Still not worth it to upgrade from P35 really, but in the future...

    Long live 775
