1.52 in the bios if I want it fully stable for Virtual Dub Mod, Divx and etc
settles in cpuz at about 1.48-1.50 with the droop....

If you intend to use your PC mainly for daily apps and you are not a 3D drawing fanatic or moviemaker, a S775 Dual core CPU is still a nice option. I've played with this E6300, bundled it with a GTX 285 and had zero FPS issues during long-time single or online gaming action. To be honest I didn't even notice a difference between it and my E8600, this once I started to up the FSB and final CPU clock speeds. Games seemed to load almost as fast and were trouble free. Seeing that the Pentium E6300 costs only one third of an E8600, how hard is it to not opt for it?

But if it takes less voltage than the E5200 I'm all for it....

That CPU did 4Ghz on air with 1.32Vcore... 4.5 was 1.45... Extra cache really helps in some games and apps... I have no clue how the prices have evolved but hey are certainly lower then why I reviewed the E6300... Too bad you are so far away as once the I5 rigs are available I'm selling my E7400...

I assume you're referring now to the E7400 for that 1.32 amd 1.45...

Good... because the E7400 is available locally.... just a short walk across the street...

However if I did order from Newegg I could get the E7500 for the same price...
But at that point I think the "challenge" is gone - because it's so close to 3 ghz it could probably do 4 ghz in it's sleep...

So it'll likely be the E7400

Then it's on to the Quads... Either the q9550 or the Big Q9650 depending on the price

The E7400 was even better 1.3 Vcore for 4Ghz and 1.4 for 4.5Ghz 2 hour prime stable ( Custom 20K ) I hope you get a good one mate, some users reported difficulties breaching 4Ghz on their E7400's... mine topped at 545FSB, for the E6300 +/- the same... once over 4.5 it was hard to keep her cool for benches... Single stage got me up to 4.9Ghz, Cascade power was required to go beyond 5ghz...

here's what I got as of now....




the temps usually are 27 to 35 idle during the day and 47-57 on full load at 4 ghz

I'll let you know what happens when I go for the big E7400 in a little while

edit: by "relatively cool" I mean the above as opposed to 50 at boot up and 85 under full load

edit 2: oh and here ....oops sorry, I mean here....


btw I tried some ref tweaking etc and 1.5000 in Bios is the minimum vcore it will accept for 4 ghz before it crashes all the way to hell.....

Well, I think I will never try something so hard. It's not that pratical. I made my E5300 to 3.75G using AIR. But it's R0.

I know, I specifically got this 2nd system (top of my signature) for fooling around and burning out chips.... My main one is the E8600 with a safe voltage...

If it goes it goes... I don't expect anymore than a few months out of this chip anyways...

I just couldn't get my hands on the E5400 cause Newegg.ca sold out....

Something from me All on air, but this chip is so hot. 80-85c on cores during this run (decent cooler @ 2000 RPM fan). I heard that hot chips are good on subzero, so we'll see. Next -> phase change. FSB wall @ 380MHz, I'll see how's it going on cold

Now that I would LIKE.... it's the same voltage I'm using now... but the chip would probably melt a hole right though the bak of the board if I ever decided to put any kind of LOAD on it....

I buy them at my two local computer shops and so far..

E8600
E2160
E5200

- all average but nothing spectacular....

Mine will do 4ghz for maybe a month or two while yours will do 4ghz for a lifetime....

Had a spare 100.00 floating around so I snagged a quic E7400 befor I buy my UD3P/UD3R next week...
I don't know if you would consider this good, but it's Virtual DubMod Stable (100% load) - max 56 Temps and seems to require only 1.40 vcore unlike my previous E5200 @ 4.0 whic required a whopping 1.54 vcore in the bios for 1.52 just to be stable... Much better improvement, although not spectacular - I was hoping for VT but I got an old RO one...

Amazingly i forgot to reset bios to stock from my e8600 in this board and it booted at 4.2ghz with same vcore...don''t know how stable though...

Multiplier and fsb are virtually identical minus half the cache + an extra .5 for good measure...

When I get my Q9550 in November I'm hoping to be able to use settings similar to this
