    In my experience you really should fill them with tap water and leave them for 24-48 hours. After which, empty out a little water and shake the rad for 3-4mins. You'll see loads of flux come out.

    By the way, even after all the flushing I've done, I'm still letting the radiators stand with water in them and then emptying them out after a shake - I'm still getting flux!

    I'm sure my radiators have an infinite supply of flux in them!

    No, tap water will defintely eat through your rad if you leave it for a day.

    All joking aside, it's not a must to flush the radiator afterwards with distilled or deionized. It is used to get any tap water leftovers and deposits out. It's up to you to decide whether your local tap water is considered clean enough and the amount of water left is too small to gunk up your loop with bacteria, algae, whatever.

    Ok, so I've finished flushing.

    This is what I've done (number times done shown at the end):

    1) Filled the radiators with hot water and left to stand for one or two days; shook the radiators and emptied out. - x20
    2) Connected the shower to the radiators and let very hot water flow into and out of the radiators for one hour. - x1
    3) Filled the radiators with vinegar and left the stand for between 30 - 60 mins (but no longer than that!), followed by a shake and empty and a flush using the shower method above for 20mins. - x4
    4) Filled the radiators with hot de-ionized water and let stand for about 45 mins, followed by a shake and an empty. - x1

    What I need to know is do I need to do anything else to ensure all the vinegar is out? I've heard of people using bi-carbonate of soda to counteract the vinegar, so should I be doing this too?

    Vinegar is not something that forms any residue, if at all not in the time frame it was in your rad. If you're confident that the flushing afterwards was thoroughly enough, be done with it. You've spend enough time already with those TC's, far more than you should have to.
