That ring thats ferrite on the corsiar PCI-E just cracks off the wires... I squeezed it with my wire cutters very lightly and it broke into two pieces

    Very beautiful shots and cables
Watch out that the SATA data doesn't get corrupted due to all the twists

Certainly learned a lot from this thread.

Hopefully I can share something that worked for me.

Well first of all, those molex extractor tools didn't work for me, I have the Corsair HX520 and the pins are an ass to remove.

They need to be made of Adamantium or something, someone get Wolverine.....

These worked best for me (credits to dingdong555 ), plus they are dirt cheap, less than 50 cents :

I had an extra tool as well, something to help me pull out the "super hard to remove" pins, couple bucks down at ACE Hardware :

They have no sharp teeth, so they don't "bite" into the PVC and tear it if you squeeze and pull too hard :

Ok a little demonstration of how I did it :

    Get your tools ready :

(sorry can't resist the shot )

Put on your gloves, it does help reduce injury when you yank the cable out, trust me, you WILL cut yourself (maybe I'm just clumsy)

Push one pin in until it can't go no more :

Push the other pin in and make sure it's aligned, so you know it went all the way in :

Then just simply use the tool and yank it out

    Done!

Thanks Dangals for starting the thread, Guys who contributed (too many to mention), Charles and Nils for the best sleeves ever!

I'm kinda addicted to sleeving, but I just have 4m left of the 1/8 lol

    Love the glove-shots

Here some orange from me (it kills every camera sensor - it's unphotoshopped):

Man how does everyone get the heatshrink and sleeving cut the right length? I seem to be wasting heatshrink because it is too short and the sleeving because it is too short too. Any tips?

    Thanks

Mediocre sleeving at best, can't seem to get the sleeving at the right length for all the cables. I noticed the cable length varies for each color.

I can't see the orange thing

Don't flex the sleeving? cause it kind of "pull back" after you extend them.

I use about 2 cm of heatshrink for each cable, worked well for me.

Thanks for the pin idea! Awesome piece of thing, plus it's harder and doesn't break

Here's a trick I use for getting my heatshrink lengths right - cause I just can't seem to cut them exactly the right length (tried to figure out how to use some type of paper cutter to do it, but can't quite see how to do it that way).

First, I cut a bunch of heat shrink pieces - 1.5-2.0 cm depending on how long I want it. Then I check their lengths by putting against something straight - e.g. the box in the pic. Then I trim as required to get them just about right. Of course, keeping the lengths right also requires care when you actually apply them.

Sometimes you still miss a bit - see the upper most wire in this set. If it's really bad, I will actually remove the heat shrink with an exacto and redo. Some guy around here has this "No Compromises" saying ...

Now that is a sleeve job! perfect length!

Did you trim the length of the wires? Mine seem to come with different lengths, hence the mess.

A little tip: instead of yanking the wire out of the connector with a pair of pliers, take a very small flathead screwdriver and gently push it out from the same side as you put your needles/staples in. This way you avoid pulling the wire out of the metal piece, like i did on one ocassion.

+1 on that...thats one of the main reasons I had to go out and order a molex crimp tool, and why I fought with my kaze master for a good 3 hours trying to get its re-wiring looking half decent (still doesn't look perfect though however)

Has anyone attempted to sleeve their USB keyboard or mouse cords? Maybe even speakers wires?

Heck how about ALL the wires behind their desk?

... sorry ... nothing fancy. It was just a f/3.5 lens, but long thing. No idea what it was, but nothing special

Anyways, I told a good friend (Ferhan aka fhantastic) to finally register here at XS. Since this might take a while he allowed me to now show some beautiful sleeve-art that he did. Will be cool once he is registered here!!!

    Here we go

Sleeved on regular cables of course: No tape, no tricks, just extremely good sleeving by an extremely good sleever
