What QPI/VTT voltage should I use with 1866 MHz RAM? and what is the maximum "safe" voltage?
    Thanks in advance

I'd say anything under 1.35v (shown in for example Everest @ full load) is completely safe if your CPU stays at 75ish degrees.
There's no correct answer for how many volt you should be needing, since every chip is different. Just; turn up the speed, test, if unstable then more volts, test again and keep on going until you hit the sweet spot.

thanks alot for your answer m8, gonna try that now
edit: I can't thank you enough for this, it works at 1.35 (I was just a bit confused about the max. safe voltage for QPI) gonna try LinX for a while now to see if it's stable, thx again

sadly it's not stable even at 1.38 QPI voltage, should I go for 1.39 or 1.40?

Well, if you want to see what your chip limits are then sure. Just make sure your proper cooled.
There are more settings than just QPI volt to tweak though.

I changed the CPU water block yesterday I had been using the Swiftech GT but I was having a hard time cooling the i7. I installed the Swiftech GTZ and that lowered the idle temps by about 5C compared to the GT. I cool the water using a small camping cooler with one Swiftech radiator plus a heater core from a Chevy van connected into the loop then placed at the bottom of the cooler. I add just enough water to cover the rads. then add 20# of ice. I fashioned a foam rubber seal to close the area around the cooling hoses when the lid is closed as far as possible. If I bench test the i7 with high voltage setting the ice lasts about 5-6 hours.

I tested 3DMark06 a little more today mostly with HT enabled to see if the lower CPU temp would help, which it did. I also gained a little in Super Pi.

I thought you wanted a detailed walkthrough not only the bios feature

I'm no raid expert, so I thought it would be nice to make a new thread with some of the PROs in raid helping us out, sry if you thought otherwise

My information is that for speeds over 1600MHz, QPI=1.5v should be used.
It is changed automatically with XMP profile. I run mine @ 1.5 no problem.

So your D0 can only get you to 888(1776)? If you tried 14x143 does it get into windows? I can only get to 953(1915) with the OCZ Blades. Thanks in advance. Man I was about to hit the buy button. I'm glad you posted.

Tried that but no luck 14 multi is just not doable with my chip.

    Wink

Thanks for trying it out Blaxtr3m3. I guess the strain is on the IMC itself whether it be 6 Gig(3 sticks) or 12 Gig(6 sticks). Anyway still looking for a good water cooling setup. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

    Hi Guys

Great thread, I just got my Corsair Dominator GT 2000 Mhz, 8,8,8,24.

Can somebody please tell me what QPI/DRAM and DRAM BUS voltage they run for 2000Mhz+ on RAM with these?

I Wondered when I use the X.M.P profile the QPI/DRAM voltage is set to 1.6000v + DRAM BUS voltage is set to 1.650v (is that not very high?)

What would you guys suggest: Run high CPU clock like 4,5 Ghz at 1765 mhz RAM (7,7,7,20) or 4,0 Ghz at 2005Mhz RAM (8,8,8,24)?

    Greetings from Denmark

The best is to go custom ! Better value and better cooling

1.5 for QPI is enough, and DRAM voltage = 1.65 is the norm.

as for clocking, If your cpu is stable and temps are cool go for the higher clock on the cpu. definately faster system

    Hi All,

Neewbie Here, & newbie to all this kinda stuff

Got the rig up & running around 2 weeks ago now & after reading all the pages here on the forum...got it to 4.2ghz....had some issues with screen freeze & BSOD but since found a bad stick of RAM
so now running on 4gb...Vista 64...everything flying....

The one problem I seem to have and can't find anyone else with this anomalie....when the rig is off ( shutdown state )....the ROG Light on the Mobo keeps flashing on & off ( fading in & out ) very slowly every 4 - 5 secs or so..

Anyone else having this problem......or just me....exactly the same with 3 diff Bios versions...now running 1502

    Quick Hardware List

    RIIExtreme - HD4870 - Core i7 920 - 1000wPSU - Coolermaster V8 ( working really well ) - Lian Li V2010 ( side window imported from Germany - UK had none ) - 8 x HDDs - 2 x LG DVDRW - 6GB Patriot DDR3 1600mhz

You can turn the lights off in the BIOS, i think its in the boot options, im not infront of that PC now to check for you, but if you look around in there you can get rid easy enough.

If you have it enabled it flashes on all boards and bios versions when it's shutdown. It's not anything wrong.
