Power efficiency up to 89%, much better than competitors.
i would like to see this proven, the ad also mentions "new-gen" 8+2 pwm phases with "xtreme" durable solid caps... but something tells me it's just the same old analog pwm with good caps. the board looks nice, the heat sinks are very stylish, i just wish they would give us some real info for once.

4 pin CPU power plug and rated for 140w chips? I thought the 8 pin connectors provided more power than the 4 pin?

it's funny how they advertise as best oc and affordable price when they only compare it to their boards only.

In theory if power efficiency is up to 89% then it might not need it. Thats just my guess. But I don't usually trust marketing until I see it in action.

Lol this is funny all the features on the board they compare it to are the same they just slap some pr onto theirs to make it better. Its always funny seeing Gigabyte and Asus always directly trying to match each other.

The ad comparison is pathetic if you actually spend the time to read it, not to mention the picture actually shows spellchecker highlights.

wow, first 790x board I've seen that has actual mosfet cooling. That only took well over a year and many a firestorms.

Somehow i'm not buying that xtreme durable caps story... 1. They don't mentioin their manuafacturer or model series. 2. I don't spot OS-Cons ^^
Effiency can be added by using mosfets with lower Rds(on) and lower internal resistance.

    But anyhow nice looking board.

thats nonsense, afaik ~90% efficiency is normal for a cpu pwm, much better than others would mean 85% or worse efficiency and while some cheap boards might be that bad, i doubt it...

4pin cpu pwm connector = fail...
brown pcb = fail... its almost as bad as the original yellow/brown baby poo pcb color they had a few years ago :S

    everything else looks ok-nice actually...

and yeah, i wish thered be more real infos, like what voltages, max, min, intervals, hwmonitor, voltage pads, ocing options, bios screenshots...

Big woop on CF-X support. Kinda comes naturally with 2 PCI-E x16 slots... and x2 GPUs

obr, turquoise? ouch... gee, asus really has no clue about colors :S

most other board makers have terrible color combos, but they pick colors at random or cause x is cheaper than y, but asus picks them on purpose and still ends up with pretty ugly colors funny thing is, gigabyte seems to no longer have the worst color combos, asus finally managed to beat them it seems

I think the 790X is kind of a moot point.

The 790GX are priced about the same, consume less, are better overclockers and they even pack a free GPU.
    Mojo stands for Compute Power!
No need for powerfull CPUs or GPUs anymore. All you need is Mojo!

One of the AMD guys clocked a Quad-Core to 5GHz on dry-ice on a M3A78-T (Which "only" has a 4-pin connector).

It is enough, might not be enough for Ln2 cooling but for AIR and WATER it's a breeze.

xbitlabs managed to melt the plastic on a 4-pin connector when overclocking a Q6700. It didn't happen right away though, after 45 mins Prime 95. The extreme OC'ers with DICE or LN2 end up cooling down the board so maybe that prevents this happening. Also they don't hold the OC for long at a high load.

    http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/mai...l_9.html#sect0

For the 24/7'ers it might be more of a concern. If you have an X2 4000+ like me you probably don't need to worry so much

    salad does have a point

btw i use to run a 265W peltier using a molex connector, the wires were quite warm and the connector changed from white to a yellowish color over time (this was after hours of usage across weeks) but no real damages
