Scooby Try this program LinX - a simple GUI for Intel® Linpack Benchmark. Intel Burn Test it is nothing at me successfully passed tests for the less voltage where other programs report an error I think that is something wrong with Intel Burn Test v2.3

@seba84_2005, I'll give it a try, wish me luck.

@xTKxhom3r, well if your talking to me. The bios setting I posted is really everything you would need. What setting would you like to know about? If you take a look at the Prime data I think I did a little over 9hrs.

i was talking about you bro

i was asking about the ioh and qpi settings after you primed just incase you changed them for more stability....

does any one mess with the cpu spread??? whats the best setting to have it at?

Do you still have that option in bios with 1502 ? Mine is gone in both 1502 and 1504.
Your right bro I no longer have that setting in 1502.

@seba84_2005, 20 passes good enough in LinX?

@xTKxhom3, OK, no changes were done after Prime because after 9hrs of testing it prove that all my finale settings are stable. If you decide to follow my setting you CPU will determine your finale overclock. As for CPU Spread mine are Disabled.

Yep 20 passes is good. Set a "Memory to use" for 4096

At those settings for me Linx passes full test:
    BCLK 200 x 21 - 4.2GHz HT on

    CPU -1.275v
    QPI - 1.3375

all other voltage set the lowest.

    i can do 4.0 with

    cpu-1.25
    qpi.1.26
    ioh-1.24

but after 4.0 voltages start going up... i never tried getting 4.5 stable i just threw out some high voltages to get it bench stable thats why im so interested in your results scooby im gonna try 4.5 tomorrow with the new bios.. how are your load temps btw? and with what cooler

You do not need to raise voltage on IOH..... motherboards based on chipsets x58 achieve maximum BCLK on stock voltage check stability at the nominal voltage IOH but CPU leave same settings what you wrote above

I do not agree there Seba, some mobo/CPU configurations might require it. My 940 required it on the RE II, the 950 doesn't... overclocking is not an exact science, there are far too many exceptions
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

if i set the ioh at stock i need a lot more vcore to be stable you should try it seba it might help you achieve a higher overclock

But 940 is C1, 950 is D0, because it was necessary to increase the voltage ? how well we know C1 were very "resistant" to overclocking

I do have enzo MOSFET heatsinks on the chips on the qpi card if that's any good??

I was told by eddy that the chips badly produced any heat and just a heatsink would do

How whould I attach a fan if needed?

I had differences between my CO CPU's as well, nothing to do how they overclock or not, some CPU's just need more than others and minimum IOH volts wouldn't do... he can give it a shot. But with 2 of the 920's and the 940 I needed a bit more IOH voltage to get them stabilised at 4Ghz... some DO users need it too. and they were not 100% the same setting

And for your info there are great CO CPU's out there, that ass whoop some DO's. They seem pretty resistant to me. My friend think he wasted his IMC on his 950. CPU is erratic at high speeds, stock clocks it's fine... and he never pushed more than 1.55Vcore, 1.55 QPI under LN2...

If your IOH statement would be 100% correct, why on earth did all the mobo manufacturers put them volt controls in at the first place... beats me

There are no 100% certified golden rules in PC hardware, there are more deviations then we like...

Right, i'm about to upgrade to i7 (will probably be a month or 2, need to finish my case, but anyway), and I will probably buy this board. I have quite a list of questions though. My first OC rig ever was the one I have now, and though it's super easy to OC, it lacks tons of options. And with i7, there seems to have been added even more! I've read a bunch of guides and most of this thread, and here's a list of things that I don't know what are, and seem to be rather important.

    QPI
    VTT
    BCLK
    UCLK
    Turbo State
    c-state
    EPU
    IOH
    ICH
    RIIE
    LLC
    R2E

Could anyone care to explain to me what these are? :P

edit: aww, come on I really want to learn more!

I never changed the QPI voltages during all benches. It's a little high but that's only cuz I'm pushing these 1600MHz ram to 1723MHz. If I was at 1600MHz I can drop the QPI to 1.3v. I'm waiting for my RMAed Dominator GT's to come in. I'm sure I'll have some fun with those sticks.

    CPU -1.35v
    QPI - 1.34375v

    Load temps:
    CPU: 68c-71c
    CPU Cores: 70c-89c

I wonder what would happen if I went watercooling...should I?

probably would be less temperature may also be helped by reduction voltage on CPU

It has something to do with 0.61 LinX version.

But I'm sure this didn't affect the testing efficiency in any way.
