What should I do to go further?

(I guess E-leet doesn't let you open multiple windows of it )

Why are the forums so damn slow today?

sure thing mate.. in your case i would raise the nb vcore abit and that should give you more stability, also it might be a good idea to try if setting your ram to slower multi helps you clime to higher speeds on your cpu.

Yeah I lowered the Ram down to 1333mhz, and then started climbing back up with the CPU. So now I'm at 3.5xxMhz and my Ram is back at 840mhz now. Once I go to 168 bclk it gets unstable again now. Which voltage settings is my NB in the BIOS? I don't recall seeing one for the NB.

    Heres where I am now....

    Core voltage is at 1.258v

there you go nb vcore that talked about is called as qpi ppl vcore raising that to about 1.35v would be good enough for about 3.8hzh- 4.2ghz until you need to raise it again. btw it little bit sounds like your ram is holding you back while ocing your cpu.

Sweet! Thanks for the help bro!! Much appreciated

Yeah the 12gb of Ram is probably holding me back, but dropping it back to 1333mhz helped a lot, but I'm just looking to get about 4ghz on the cpu so I should be able to.

I will let you know what happens here. But I probably wont be able to try until tomorrow. (not at my computer right now)

So I tried to put the Qpi PLL at 1.35 with my current settings and it would not post/boot at all. I would get an FF message on my debug LED on mobo and couldnt even restart or turn off the computer with the case buttons. Had to hard reset and clear Cmos. So I put everything back to where it was and tried 1.2v on the QPI PLL and it works.

Any reason why it wouldnt take 1.35v on QPI PLL?

I'd love to see some detailed settings. guaranteed, you've got something simple that's not set correctly.

MCH strap should be auto, and dram ratio should be 2:8.

    Coming up.

So even with the QPI PLL at 1.2v I started getting lots of errors / BSOD so I took it back to default. Then back up to 3.5 with 1.27 vcore and 1.65v for RAM now, and everything is stable again. I KNOW this can go higher on air, im just missing something because honestly I have not OC's much before, my last Q2Q rig I didnt OC the CPU at all, only the video cards. And my two rigs before that were old AMD athlon X2's and barely did any on them. So I will post up pics of my BIOS and monitering software pics so I can get some help.

Also my temps are barely moving on this chip, even at 3.5ghz, under load It only gets to mid to high 60's load. It idles at 28c. If I take off the side of my case, it drops to 25c, even when browsing the itnernet/watching videos, etc.

I want to hit 4ghz, that is all! It should be cake for this CPU with this Mobo & BIOS (rock solid BIOS supposingly)

mmm thats weird, but from my experience its sometimes it can be really small thing that you have to change to get the board booting up again. what i would recommend you doing is to boot up with the settings that work for you and then use the eleet tool in windows to overclock and test what voltages you need to raise in order to get more out from your cpu with the cooling you have now.

try the following settings to around 4ghz:

    vcore- 1.38v
    dimm voltage -1.675v
    qpi voltage- 1.4v
    cpu vtt voltage- 1.4
leave the rest to auto for now and see how far you can get with those. also put your vdroop settion to no vdroop and your memory low gap to 1.5

Im partial to doing all this from the BIOS, but how is the Eleet tool with this stuff?? Or is it less stable through software?

For the CPU VTT voltage it doesnt give me a normal volt selection it is the +0MV etc. Like there is no 1.4v selection.

Oh also, are the forums slow for you today? They keep loging me off and have been extremely slow for me.

if i remember it correctly the setting for getting the 1.4v on the CPU VTT section is +300mV . the eleet software is very stable if you end up using it, i find it easier for faster voltage/ overclocking / stability testing.
for me the forum refresh time is pretty fast

Your RAM is set to 1673MHz, use the 2:8 or the 2:6 divider. Your TARGET MEMORY FREQUENCY is what your RAM is running at, not 1333MHz.

Well, I popped in the D0. Been using it for a few days. Cold boot issues disappeared entirely but so far I'm getting nowhere past 3.8 with this chip, regardless of settings.

Time to try a new BIOS...

That is correct, default VTT value is 1.1v

Haven't used Eleet myself but have heard good things about it, also no issues with the forum for me either

Exactly, but AC isn't buying it for some reason.

2:10 is the perfect setting for 200 bclk, 2000mhz ram.....anything else should be run at 2:8. It gives so much more flexibility.

I just wanted to try and keep my memory as fast as possible, but I reached a wall, especially because im using 12gb. So I just set it back to 2:8 and now im climbing back up with my CPU. Lowered the Ram volts as well since I went back.

mind posting some detailed settings? So far my D0 is a piece of CRAP. It BSODs at 3.8. Can't hit 4 no matter what settings, voltage, or timings i use. I've been going with HT off btw.

I'm going to pull half my RAM and try, but my C0 had NO TROUBLE hitting 4.2 with this RAM. I'm pissed.

Thanks in advance for any help.

read through the help the guys here have been giving me.

You brought your memory divider back to 2:10 or 2:8 right? This is really important especially with 12gb of Ram like us. That helped me A LOT and now im back at my rated speed for my mem (1600) After I brought it to 2:8 I went from 3.5 to 4.00 easily. Planning on trying 4.2 tomorrow. Today I was enjoying 4ghz while playing through Crysis:Warhead maxed out

SirKronan post up your BIOS settings.

D0 Ocing seems to be quite a bit different (easier) than C0 clocking. You might just be messing with stuff that doesnt need to be touched. At 4.1Ghz my D0 is stable at stock VTT voltage.

Going to try to get my 4.2 stable. It errored on the 6 pass of Intel Burn test...I think I need to raise my QPI PLL to 1.45...Will post some results soon as I feel satisfied.

Well baring any unforeseen problems I should be up in a couple days, just waiting on my CPU from New Egg Heads

I wanted an Xeon CPU but with jumping on the 1366 so late figured I'd just wait and see. Only thing I do regret is Mirco Center offers the 920 for around $200 walk in price.
