    lol

well no one stepped up to the challenge/brought anything to the real world apps table all theyre doing is posting benchmarks of their ich.. not one real world situation

i posted link to boottimer.exe.. at least for starters a windows bootup pic.. nothing!

ive timed my loading time @ cod4mw blackout per request no else did/does.. these guys dont believe my 1-2 sec load time.. even if id take the time to take videos of my setup.. response will be like oh thats the cache doing it

no one posted any other real apps to challenge me

no one @ ich dares to post anything when it comes to real apps.. chickens ? they just can not bring it!

look ive been enjoying areca controllers for about ~4 years now and have been thru thin and thick.. but when i see how fast my systems perform thanks to these controllers.. windows install (2min:30sec fastest winxp install from dvdrom).. blink of an eye fast windows bootups.. lightning fast video editing.. game loading times that you have to see to believe.. overall system performance.. and the faster storage @ controller the even faster system.. no ich comes close

dont get me wrong im not pushing/forcing an areca controller upon anyone.. if one is happy with ich by all means enjoy the benchmarks if thats what makes one happy/think their system is the fastest in the world

See, I was right about my post.
You guys should really make a official XS realworld HDD bench instructions on how to make this bat file, standardize the programs used in it, make some official "File folders" with lots of smaller files inside and a large .iso file for testing real world copy performance, that one could download of of rapidshare or something.
I have done this on my systems and use it for my own comparisons. But maybe something simmilar should be devised on XS level.

Napalm, at what point would you say it is beneficial to buy the Areca controller you have? Only if one plans 4xSSD+ in R0? Or would I see real world benefits for only 2?
What realworld differences in seconds can I expect vs. ICH10? In your well educated guess of course!

Guys I think that BAT file is too specific andis focussing on some applications that many ppl will not have them installed on their PC.

How about making a new BAT file that is more generic so we can all run it? We can focus on built in Windows applications and Office 2007 for example. Since they are not as heavy on resources as Photoshop for example we shall open 50+ applications...

So lets make a new standard that everyone can use with ease. We will also be able to use this between OS-es too. And then everyones times can be compared.

    @ MnM

The was an old personal demonstration from a other thread.

There is an option to scan all the dirīs from the apps with FC-Test.
FC-Test generates all the files of the original dirīs to the same size as the original files
Then you get a pattern-file from FC-Test (for upload)

But it not a test with real files (missing initializing etc.)

    2x raid0

ive run 2x/4x raptors 2x/4x ssds.. the diff between 2x and 4x @ 1231 is small for everyday computing.. unless you want/need to load up ~100 apps at once all day long than yeh go for 4x.. or if you need more GBs

    2x fast ssd raid0 @ 1231 = xtremely fast setup

1231 vs ich = minutes diff @ win install i can assure you on that

as for everything else youd have to see for yourself exactly the diff

*.bat - launch notepad.. input: start "" "app directory" save as .bat and run it

I do believe that proper dedicated storage CPU with fine tuned FW and loads of cache will perform uber fast even with extra latency added to the mix. Unfortunately synth benchies are not reliable tool.

My problem with Areca and Acard is the price you have to pay for that kind of performance.

BTW, what is the size of your nLited install C:\Windows folder? My full XP install is about 2Gb on disk, fully functional, 16 services and 120MB RAM used on fresh load.

    Sony KDL40 // ASRock P67 Extreme4 1.40 // Core i5 2500K //
    G.Skill Ripjaws 1600 4x2Gb // HD6950 2GB // Intel Gigabit CT PCIe //
    M-Audio Delta 2496 // Crucial-M4 128Gb // Hitachi 2TB // TRUE-120 //
    Antec Quattro 850W // Antec 1200 // Win7 64 bit

    just very fast?? thanks rhys

i bet fear stevero nizzen areca or ich and anyone else @ "ramdisk" they aint no faster than that ^

    24x samsung ssd: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96dWOEa4Djs

they load up 53 apps in 18 secs.. thats all fast and all but i can load twice that many in 18 secs

    64 apps / 10 secs = 6.4 apps per sec
    6.4 apps x 18 secs = 115 apps

even after taking into consideration the load on the system im pretty sure i can load 53 x 2: 106 apps in 18 secs on the 4x jmicrons

but you guys aint gonna believe it anyways so im not gonna bother/attempt

once i get 4x faster ssds ill show you guys how to load up 53 x 3 : 159 apps in 18 secs

I think this setup was an "one-day-setup", because i never seen other tests like this.

I need 2 another big Arecaīs and many Acards. Then i build a "Triple-SLI" with the Arecaīs (3x 800MB/s. raw power or 3x 1600MB/s. with cache).

"one-day-setup" ? lol ive had this setup since last november.. and have been enjoying it ever since

i cant match acards @ most benchmarks.. i dont have the bandwidth for a dvd per second.. but the fact is @ real apps im twice as fast!

just 1x 1231/4x slc jmicrons no more no less

    heres the 106 app *.bat

can you load it up in 18 seconds ?? i certainly can

My problem with Areca and Acard is the price you have to pay for that kind of performance.

BTW, what is the size of your nLited install C:\Windows folder? My full XP install is about 2Gb on disk, fully functional, 16 services and 120MB RAM used on fresh load.
    i just reinstalled xp

    no paging file/fresh install

theres still a lot trash in there^ i could further slim it down/make it faster but i didnt feel like going thru all the processes again so i left it like that.. fast as it is

a new better nlited xp has been long overdue.. im holding off till i get new ssds
