To be honest i did not read all 79 pages but i have one question. Is there any differences between flashing bios via dos or just use EZ-FLASH with an usb stick?
i've flashed my bios on P5Q-E board via EZFLASH both time without any problems at all. I've just format my usb stick, put only a bios file, boot up EZFLASH and few times
pressed enter, and after all that i've | remove power cord, battery, and set CMOS jumper to "clear". Press and hold power button a few times, leave for 2mins, then power everything up again|

Okay i did not wait 2 mins always...

No, I don't own all of those P5Q boards I just applied the same tweaks as I do for the P5Q/Pro/-E etc. Which means you can probably get a higher stable CPU/RAM clock, but any FSB limits will probably remain. FSB wall 99.9% of the time is hardware limitation, not software programming error.

Flashing from pure DOS is just a much "cleaner" way to do things. It ensures no stagnant remains of the old BIOS are left behind.

I'm still trying to get satisfied with my system.. no real complaints from the CPU clock its not bad for a quad (450*8). But its damn annoying how my GPUs reset themselves when their OCd in some tasks for no reason. Makes me want to grind my teeth away I'm getting that furiously frustrated trying to figure out wtf makes rge GPUs do that.

maybe crossfire ? as i can see you have 2 of them... drivers ? afaik 4830 doesn't have voltera chip in the case you've vmode gpus...or maybe they are for RMA...so many questions..

Well, right now the only suspect I have is my PSU, but its 800w and has 20a on each of its 4 12v rails. I've run each card by itself stock and OCd for some time, its only when in crossfire. I've tried a few different drivers too and they haven't fixed it. What makes it even more unusual is that I left the streetfighter 4 benchmark running for a hour with no problems, then I do that stupid Windows performance test thing out of curiosity and got a VPU recover message.

I always turn that feature off in my catalyst control panel, this is more about a buggied driver Ket... we had similar issues when benching crossfire : droppign cards, loosing OC's on two out of three etc... very very buggy
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Mate drivers might be suspicious. I see you have solid psu and not too "overweight" components. As you can see crossfire is pain in the ass sometimes.
And i've noticed you've oc'ed gpu's, maybe you should try few steps lower clocks.
If they are working fine as one per slot that is the definitly problem on relation : crossfire/too much oc

    Sorry everyone for offtopic.

I suspect it could be drivers still too, but I was kinda hoping it wouldn't as drivers I can't do much about apart from wait for AMD to get off their lazy arse and sort things out. I never had any of these issues before AMD bought ATi
I've also tried various CF configs, running stock, the cards are fine in CF, apply any kind of OC and eventually.. VPU recover. Something else I'm trying to figure out is my low 3DMark scores too. In 06 its only 16.8k, and thats with both cards @ 680/2GHz and my Q8400 @ 8*450. Granted, I'm running W7, but I doubt it would have a 2-3k impact on my score. I even seperated and isolated various components attached to my PSU to make sure one rail wasn't overloaded compared to another. Does anybody know if XFX release frequent BIOS updates for their graphics cards like asus do? Maybe its some kind of bug there, wouldn't be the first time. One of my Sapphire HD3870s had a BIOS bug that was never fixed so I had to use a different manufacturers BIOS to fix it.

@ Oki, Don't worry about OT. Its my thread, if I choose to take it OT briefly then so be it

    Using Afudos to update bios?

    Hey guys

I'm getting the P5Q Deluxe (together with Q9550) in a few days, and have been doing some research, so I'm ready to configure and setup my system asap when I get it.

I will for sure update the bios to 2201. But I'm wondering about one thing.

    I prefer to use afudos to update the bios, and all the guidelines I've read tells;
    -to make a bootable floppy
-put the "afudos.exe" on that floppy
-in addition the "bios.rom" file on that floppy

But (sorry for my french), how the h*** can you fit all those files on the same floppy, when the bios alone is 2mb and the floppy is limited to 1.44mb?

Can you make 1 floppy "bootable" with the "afudos.exe" in it, and another with the "bios.rom" file in it? and does both need to be "bootable"? But then again, the "2201" bios is still 2mb and cannot fit onto a floppy

Also, if you know which is the latest "afudos.exe" available, provided with a download link - I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance

Just want to thank the creator of the latest P5Q-E BIOS - this thing kicks ass! I had ASUS's latest and could BARELY OC my E8600 on it since the flash. Once I put the modded BIOS on it, I was back up to 4.4GHz/Air with decent volts.
    Thank you!!!!!

This BIOS kicks ass! I just flashed it yesterday, and overclocking my q6600 was easy as pie. Lowered the boot time as well. It was a breath of new life for my P5Q Pro.

    What's the best BIOS for a 45nm Q9300?? I was on the stock 1703-BIOS, now I'm on Ket's 2101, but I don't see a huge difference in overclockability...

    My settings are:

    CPU Ratio Setting = 7.5
    FSB Frequency = 467
    PCI-E Frequency = 101
FSB Strap to Northbridge = Auto

    DRAM Timing Control = Manual

    DRAM Frequency = DDR2-934
    DRAM Command Rate = 2N
    DRAM Timing Control = Manual
    CAS# Latency = 5
    RAS# to CAS# Delay = 5
    RAS# PRE Time = 5
    RAS# ACT Time = 18
Row Refresh Cycle Time (tRFC) = 65
    All Else to Auto

DRAM Static Read Control = Disabled
    DRAM Read Training = Disabled
    Mem. OC Charger = Auto
    AI Transaction Booster = Disabled
    Performance Level = 11
    CPU Voltage = 1.4000
    0/2 GTL = 0.680
    1/3 GTL = 0.680
    CPU PLL Voltage = 1.52
    FSB Termination Voltage = 1.24
    DRAM Voltage = 2.02
    NB Voltage = 1.30
    NB GTL = 0.640
    SB Voltage = 1.1
    PCI-E SATA Voltage = 1.5

    Loadline Calibration = Disabled
    CPU Spread Spectrum = Disabled
    PCIE Spread Spectrum = Disabled

    CPU Clock Skew = Auto
    NB Clock Skew = Auto
    CPU Margin Enhancement: Optimized

It's stable for an hour of OCCT-testing, do you think that's fine? Everything else is working fine, too...are those voltages save? Vcore is about 1.37V under load...
I may want to hit 480MHz FSB, that's 3600MHz, do you think that works? Which voltages may I need to increase?

    Hi Ket...

I've been reading this thread for almost a year now, and amazed by your work.

I use P5Q-Deluxe and from all versions I felt 1402m suits me most. Too bad I lost mine due to hdd failure.
I notice the 1402m bios is not within downloadable bios collections provided in front of this thread, nor the link in your post #257.

Would you mind telling me where can I download it ?

    Thanks in advance.

How are non P5Q/Pro/-E/Deluxe/Premium users doing? There won't be any new mBIOSes for boards outside the norm, but I'm sure I'm not the only one curious to find out how others are doing.

Anybody still got 1402m bios for P5Q-Deluxe?
