save the rom in USB Flash Drive, the only requirement is that should be formatted for FAT16 or FAT32 file system. If you wish to launch BIO-Flasher Utility, press F12 on boot-up.

    TA790GX XE

Tried the above and it works not bad at all. It IDs the stock dualcore x550 correctly and unlocks it too but the 1st boot may give you rather high Vcore settings so quickly get around to setting it right. Changing the HT frequency may confuse the BIOS into calling the CPU as an AMD Engineering Sample though, HT1.8. IDs OK but HT2.0 IDs as AMD ES on my 550x2@x4.

Thanks PcCI2iminal, pls keep up the good work.

    Mixed news update:

BIOS IDs chip correctly when HT is set to 2.2.

S3 resume is now broken when HT is set beyond 1.6, argh!

    Hi PcCI2iminal,

I am using 790gx xe with the beta 715 bios, which give me 4 core ! But no matter what voltage I give or lower the CPU to 1.6G, 1 of the core fail immediately in prime95 or LinX after 1 loop !
Interesting thing is that it pass 1 hr AMD Overdrive stablility test & CPU burn-in test without any problem !
So is it a bios issues like those early MSI bios before.... Or is my 550 is just stable for 3 core ?

Would this let the XE run my 955BE? I was surprised last night when I put my 955BE in there and it was detected correctly but locked it down to 800Mhz and was impossible to change with BIOS, K10stat, AOD, or any other method. I see that the 955BE is not officially supported which was my guess as to why it was not working, but I see plenty of other 125W CPU's that are, and in fact the origional Phenom 9950 at 140W is even supported. Was hoping to turn the XE into a nice LAN PC until I saw the issue.

Thanks man cos I always use S3 so I am stuck with HT 1.6K atm.

My 0923APMW early UVOC attempts (BIOS Vcore 1.2875V), running the chip as a tri-core ie. x3, it's plenty fast still despite 1 bad core. Using PcCI2iminal's BIOS on my 790GX XE.

    Just want to say thanks!

My TA790GXE Micro can unlock the fourth core with the TA790GXE modded 78DDM618.CET BIOS..... The TA790GXE(R1) didn't work. Don't know what the difference is.

I have a Phenom II 720 BE clocked @ 3.6 with 4 cores running now.

The TA790GXE(R1) didn't work but the TA790GXE ones did. Also had to set the HT to 1600 to get it to work.

Just put the BIOS on a USB stick and hit F12 and your good to go.

I'm happy now...... Was thinking of getting a 965 but now I wont.

Ta790gx 2+ is no more than TA790GX 128M so why there is no TA790GX A2+?
