    bout dam time

This game will hopefully spark new interest in hotas controllers again. For those looking to play MW2 on a modern system you can forget it. I think a fan made their own patch to get mw2 mercs running in win2k but the game doesn't support modern hotas controllers... you know usb stuff. So it's keyboard and mouse for no play and playing a game liike MW with a mouse is pathetic lol.

Trying to play MW4 online is rediculous, everyone on the other team sits on a hill with ppc and gauss and just waits for your team to run towards them like lambs to a slaughter:-( The people making mekpaks for MW4mercs don't want to share how they do it because it may be possible to cheat online with their tools and they had to suck up to M$ just to get permission to mod the game. M$ really screwed up this game by just sitting on it and trying to port it to crapbox.

This new MW game looks a lot like crysis actually. Especially the interface looks very similar. Too bad they think that robotech mech could loose to an atlas. Anyone that knew they would eventually drop back down into the mess they just ejected from would probably not bother ejecting lol!

Unfortunately, as these books are out of print, I don't think there are any cheap places to get them.

Haha last time I played Mechwarrior it was year 2000 so that puts me in the period of MW4:Vengage maybe?...

The state of the art giant robot has to turn it's torso to look left and right how hard it is to mount some cameras? Didn't bother me in 2000 but it is kinda funny if you think about it.

Instantly from watching that trailer i find myself thinking damn, i guess there still not going to bring back "Wire Frame mode" from Mechwarrior 2, allowing you to see through the dust. Sigh..
Proberly won't include the side ways jump jet strafing either.

Still, im interested and can't wait for more.

Well if it isn't Donnie The last MW I played was MW2 the original, and it was hell of a lot of fun. Didn't catch the Mercenaries expansion

I see that its pre-alpha, but then why on earth are they bringing a trailer out? It creates buzz in the community but publishers also have access to this, and they haven't found a publisher yet, they're going to have a hard time doing so with a trailer of this quality

Excellent news! This should get people interested in Mechwarrior (hopefully).

I have to admit, I can't play MW4 on XP x64 or Vista x64. I'll retry it on XP32, but we'll see. I think my ATI drivers dislike old games.

I'd rather cheer for than against MW5.

    July 8, 2009 -

MechWarrior fans have been hoping, praying and anticipating a new game in the famed franchise ever since the last expansion pack for MechWarrior 4 was released in 2002. Now, seven years later, their prayers have been answered. IGN has the very first details about MechWarrior reboot that is currently in production at Smith and Tinker and Piranha games. Yes, that's right, reboot. Instead of this game becoming MechWarrior 5, the developers have decided to completely re-launch the entire franchise, calling this new title MechWarrior.

We spoke to the two main players involved with MechWarrior. First there's Jordan Weisman, co-founder of Smith and Tinker and co-founder of FASA, the company that created the BattleTech universe that MechWarrior is based upon. Second is Russ Bullock, president of Piranha Games. (For an in-depth discussion of the reboot and how it fits in the franchise, check out our exclusive interview.)

I hope that the final product lives up to the hype, but me cheering for a subpar MW product will not help its sales, neither will the unfounded cheers of a few hundred die hard MW fans.

The game trailer needs to appeal to new and old MW players alike, and from that point of view, it fails considerably. By the end of the trailer, the gamer needs to be left intrigued enough to at least THINK about buying the game.

I'm pretty sure given the games pre-alpha rendering assets, a couple of 3d film school students could have made a better trailer.

You might be giving yourself too much credit there friend, you can't affect anything in a positive or negative manner, nor can I. There are enough MW Fans alone to make the game a success.

For folks who's never played it, even the old games kicks the crap out of most stuff being sold as games now. Again, that's my BIASED opinion and nothing more. It was more fun than both of Crysis Games, Battlefield 2+ I bought. 10 times better than Quake 4. The Game needs to simply be good and then hope it can sell enough units before its stolen and sent to places like the Pirate Bay LOL!

I hope this thread is saved for a return/bump after this game has been on the market.

The only thing I saw wrong with the trailer. That he wasn't aiming for the legs! lol. MechWarrior 2 and MechWarrior 4 had city battles like that. If I got shot by those missiles, I would have done hit J by that cutscene, Jumpjets FTW.

personally, i'm happy they are coming out with just something , anything. i would rather that that, then nothing at all.

4 was fun - but that was what 4 or 5 years ago? i was gaming with a ti 4200 when 4 came out. :P
how does this make a diference?
you obviously love the previous parts, thats why you will probably play the new one anyways even if it sucks...

id rather have nothing at all as it means game studios will focus on another game instead which is hopefully better than what they showed so far of mw5...

i know, and i fail to see how they want to spark interest in the community and publisher scene with THAT... even die hard mw fans have to admit that this trailer is not wowing and mindblowing at all...

see it this way, if they cant even create a simple intro/demo that looks interesting how are they going to create an interesting 100 hour+ gameplay scenario?

its like a movie trailer, if the trailer makes you yawn, why would you be wowed by the movie? makes no sense...
maybe a better analogy is: if a movie concept makes you roll your eyes how could the final movie impress you?

Also, this is not what Mechwarrior is all about. Mechwarrior is about open battles with varying types of mechs with few obstacles in between. And the obstacles never...and I mean NEVER...overshadow the mechs.

    Don't like it so far.

I agree, but also I think it's nice to have a change of scenery, I quite like
the urban battlefield, I also like the idea of being able to hide behind the object.

    Look's pretty good to me.

I really really hope it sticks with the Storylines and plays aswell as MW2 did.

I grew up with Mechwarriors and if they ruin this I'll beat up my best friend!

Bro... I've played every notable game since Wizardry! All I was saying is that it look uninspiring and would rather play something a tad more in depth and grounded.

    DOS games rocked!
