I'm working my way through that list, currently on Wolf Pack, unfortunately they are all out of print now and I get most of my books heavily used shipped from USA on Ebay. Still damn good reading if you're into this sort of thing
I've skipped a few simply because they are priced way above what I would pay ;p

ps I also got started on Blood of Kerensky, that trilogy was so awesome I wanted more D:

This post has brought a smile on my face! I have a friend out in California that may very well have ALL the books. He got started on the books and board games when we were 5 or 6 years old in the mid to late 1980s apparently.

I really hope you can achieve your quest of getting all the books in hand. That would be a marvelous collection of literature to have.

Dumbed down isn't necessarily a bad thing. I was like 10 when I first tried a MechWarrior game. It was difficult to get into and very boring because nothing ever seemed to happen.
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

    Rule 3:
When it comes to computer news, 70% of Internet rumors are outright fabricated, 20% are inaccurate enough to simply be discarded, and about 10% are based in reality. Grains of salt--become familiar with them.

Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

    Random Tip o' the Whatever
You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.

Seeing this makes me want to play Mechwarrior 4 Merc again. The community is still going strong . Never got the chance to try ever since I made my rig(though the main reason was due to me waiting for Mechpak4 from mektek) .

You won't find a game like Mechwarrior 4 anywhere else. MechAssault spin-off is just a third person shooter.

Steel Battalion was a nice simulation,I dont think they will be able to beat that. They need something like the exclusive 40-button simulation controller designed and produced for Steel Battalion.

Nice find. I really enjoyed MechWarrior 3 with my dual 12MB Voodoo STB Black Magic Cards. (Which I still have for some crazy reason)

The Alpha Strike in the video was pretty sweet as well.

Here's hoping they produce a respectable title.

Barely read any of the books but loved the Games against the computers and Online. I've badgered a friend who knows the Creator about this for years and had finally given up, WoooWHoooo I can't wait, I'm getting it when it first ships at whatever price LOL!

I think I'm just a lost cause for this Game and haven't played any version I didn't like or thought it was worth it costs. I have ALL of the games and even Battletech on my Saga 32bit console Last one I play were the ad ons for MW4 and yes, I liked it too I was so hooked.

Perkam, Mechwarrior/Battletech has always had urban combat, the Succession Wars completely decimated many cities because of mech battles. The Atlas shown in the video is one of the biggest and heaviest assault mechs (100 tons, 16metres) so yes buildings and objects can easily tower over it.
Don't know if you played Mechwarrior 2 and 4 but there were many urban environments, Mechwarrior 3 was different because the main in-game objectives didn't bring it near urban enivornments.
Perhaps, but some people here are enthusiastic about the game just because there IS a game.

After watching the trailer, and considering what it will be competing with in 2009 or 2010 when it launches, the trailer was VERY underwhelming.

The voice acting, the action (far too little space to move around) and weapon systems (especially on the second enemy Mech) looked hastily done with little attention to detail.

And WTF is with the pirate mask on the second Mech? Did they give this game to an indie studio or something?

You mean the Atlas? It has that face in all the Mechwarriors and Mechcommanders.

Anyway, trailer HUD design is a bit odd to me. Just start wishing the end result would be awesome.

I'm not sure about the earlier ones, but the mech was there on Mechwarrior 4 Vengeance, Mercenaries and Mechcommander.

The battletech universe isn't limited to games .

lol, it's like the same as mechwarrior 3 intro video but worse:P

at the beginning. mech gets owned, goes critical, destroys the enemy big mech.

And his ER PPC aim sucked :P

Having said that, I'm looking forward to this. I love mechwarrior

I played MW2 with full graphics and still loved it with like 5FPS. I am trying to find a titanium trilogy set for a good price. I want to play them again with full graphics and unlimited FPS. I love the story in the game, I may have to pick up some of the books as well.

I would love to get a copy of this with the controller. I would buy an xbox if I can find an affordable copy.

Mechwarrior is in the simulation genre, not a shooter. It should have a steep learning curve.

Too bad everything isn't predicated on what you remember They shipped with MW2M.

Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries 'Mechs include: Atlas, Cicada, Cyclops, Dragon, Mauler, Victor, Zeus and megatons more. Enhanced AI responds to even subtle changes in player tactics and allows for weapon grouping and target leading.

    man.

like 10 times in the video he talks about how the game is in no way final. they don't even have a publisher yet.

i think we should wait for a final product to comes out. give the thing a chance before you guys rip it apart.

personally, i'm happy they are coming out with just something , anything. i would rather that that, then nothing at all.

4 was fun - but that was what 4 or 5 years ago? i was gaming with a ti 4200 when 4 came out. :P

Yeah in the interview they made it abundantly clear that this was a concept video to increase awareness and generate hype in the community and more importantly to spark publisher interest. Nothing we saw here is indicative of a final product.

LoL maybe if you were really late to try the game out. It was released 9 years ago in the US and 8 years ago for the PAL version. MW4 is quite old now.

How hard would it be to bring MW2 to the current platforms? I know nothing of how games are written, but couldn't the game be translated to work on vista with upgraded textures?
