The voice acting was complete BS.

Also, this is not what Mechwarrior is all about. Mechwarrior is about open battles with varying types of mechs with few obstacles in between. And the obstacles never...and I mean NEVER...overshadow the mechs.

    Don't like it so far.

I've never played MW series TBH, and this one might be my first MW game.

The trailer is good, though I would want a little sophisticated/fancier battle interface.

Its not going to be called Mechwarrior 5, just Mechwarrior its based on a time period even earlier than the first Mechwarrior game, which bodes well for future titles, I really really hope they do something brilliant with the Clan Invasion.

Perkam, Mechwarrior/Battletech has always had urban combat, the Succession Wars completely decimated many cities because of mech battles. The Atlas shown in the video is one of the biggest and heaviest assault mechs (100 tons, 16metres) so yes buildings and objects can easily tower over it.
Don't know if you played Mechwarrior 2 and 4 but there were many urban environments, Mechwarrior 3 was different because the main in-game objectives didn't bring it near urban enivornments.

Yup, mech arn't that tall, and the books, as lucky said, have many urban battle scenarios in it.

Mechwarrior, X-com and Master of Orion were my initiation to PC gaming. Good to see the franchise is still alive. Does look very prettied up and dumbed down though.

    QFT.

I see nothing out of line here except a bit cheesy script for the voice acting, but it would be naive to not expect a more cinematic approach for this new MW release.

We worked directly with their internal studio LuxoFlux to create the 360 and PS3 SKUs of Transformers 2.
Well based on reviews the console version of Transformers 2 wasn't complete trash so here's hoping they pull it off. The original BattleTech guy is on the team so that's a good sign.

I will trust Mechwarrior: Living Legends to be more accurate to the Battletech universe. The people that make Mechwarrior games that are not fans of Battletech or do not know basic Battletech stories and principles usually find a way to make huge errors when it comes to the basics. Let us hope these MW5 guys get it right, otherwise MW:LL will be the only game for true Mechwarriors.

PS: Notice my screen name. I grew up in Battletech and don't take any of this lightly. I came up in Always Faithful battling the Grey Death Legion on Starlancer.com in the first Mech Commander game online with a 28.8k connection. Before that I honed my skills in MW2. I've fought for both the Clanners and the Inner Sphere as a mercenary. I am MECHROMANCER!

I still have several of my Pewter Battletech Mechs and game set. It's not surprising to see such a strategic and tactical game watered down through the years as its released over and over again as a video game. I love the Mechwarrior franchise and will definitely purchase MW5, but IMO this is just one of those games that's better left with the map and pieces left on the table than a virtual reality on the computer or console.

IDK how many of you played MW4 online, but this very closely resembles the city map. The action seemed pretty accurate too, so I have high hopes.

Man, I am PUMPED for this game. You can't imagine how long I have been waiting for this. I was a massive MW4 fan as it was the first game I was good at.

Here's to hoping a release date is announced and it is more balanced than MW4 was!

You may be right about that, but MW4 was probably the most strategic fps/3ps I have ever played. The ability to customize your Mech brought tremendous differences. Each Mech type had different things that made them good or bad (high armor, speed, jump jets, what weapons they could use) but then they also had the various weapons you had to put on your Mech, each with their own merits and faults. The amount of customization in this game is unparalleled in any I have seen. I probably spent about as much time thinking and making my Mechs as I did actually playing.

After reading so many of the books, Iv'e come to conclude the Battletech universe is well suited for all types of game types. You could make an RPG/MMORPG like Mass Effect or Star Wars: KOTOR, or classic simulators like we've played. What ever you do though, just stay true to the Battletech BASICS!

Looks to be good. I just hope it has Mech Warrior 2's simulator feel. I was none to happy with MW4 with feeling very arcade like.

Oh, there is much story behind the Battletech universe. Far more than you probably realize. This franchise has been a huge hit across all platforms through the years here in the U.S. and will continue to be so long as MW5 is executed well.

Sounds like its actually worth looking into these games then, as I am sort of a mecha fan when it comes to Anime

I have many hours logged in the c0ckpit of MW4. It was one of the first games I decided my PIII @ 700Mhz 128MB RAM and on board 16MB Intel VGA was the ultimate suck and had to be upgraded to enjoy it. Fortunately I snagged a 32MB TNT2 and doubled my RAM to make the game playable and the rest is history. It wasn't long ago when I thought of reinstalling it just to completely max out the settings and enjoy it once again.

FlawleZ is right. Here is a BattleTech Novel List: http://www.stargazerserv.com/csv/bte...novel_list.htm

I first read the Blood of Kerensky, Volumes 1 through 3. Back in 1997 I used to think that Mechwarrior was only a game. Then I found out it was just a part of the Battletech Universe! The books are insanely good and really draw you in. One of my favorite authors to this day remains Michael Stackpole.
