    Fun with a Phenom X2 550...

I really like this chip! I need to update my sig, but I'll do that later...

    For now, heres my rig:
    Mobo: GBT MA790XT-UD4P
    CPU: Phenom X2 550 (0922 APMW)
    Mem: OCZ http://www.mwave.com/mwave/skusearch...iteria=BA24760
    Cooling: Homemade Water Cooling

This combination unlocks to an X4 just fine, and actually OC's pretty well!
Here are my best results running as a quad on this chip...

    Here's a CPU-Z Validation:
    http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=597390

I'm not going to lie, and say this is 100% stable, but it's pretty damn close...
I've only had this chip for a few days and I'm impressed so far!

It really seems like core temps are the biggest problem....
This isn't anything new, I've experienced the same troubles with all my past Phenom chips, anything over 53c gets pretty squirley. Unlocking a chip disables alot of readings, but at least on my settup it seems that "TMPIN1" using HWMonitor is the temp that relates to CPU core temp and anything over 53c can cause system failure..

Taking all this into consideration I decided to run the chip as an X2 figuring that it would lower temps and get me a better OC... It did!

Heres the result running as a PHII 550 X2 (4.223 Ghz):
    http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=598228

I'm going to MicroCenter tommorow and picking up a 3x radiator, hopefully I can lower temps and do even better... I actually got sub 17 secs on a SuperPi run with these setting..

I'm kinda buzzed (it don't make me bad), but the PHII X2 550 is probably one of my best purchases ever...

+1 think it will be great fun tbh, might even sell my Q6600 rig just for it, (will go to computer fair obviously to grab processor so i know i get a good one to unlock ..)

Nice. I just recently sold my Phenom II 955 and I plan to get this chip tomorrow. And you got it stable at 4Ghz? Thats pretty nice as well considering the fact you unlocked both cores. Good work.

Thats a pretty awesome chip u got there.
I have ordered a AM3 mobo, and will try see if i can unlock the last 2 cores also.
    My chip is a 0919EPMW ,running a "old" 790X DDR2 mobo atm.

Think its a good one, this is 4ghz on TRUE aircooling

The IMC doesn't seem to be really strong on this one, although I can't really give it much juice due to the temp problem. I lowered the core clock & voltage, gave the IMC 1.35v and got it to ~2600...

It will run most benches @ 4Ghz, but it won't Prime Blend for more than a few minutes. Pretty sure it's heat related though, guess I'll find out when I get the new rad...
