    Interesting thread.

I received my order from PPC and whilst they were most expensive they had everything I wanted in stock, where as Petra & Sidewinders could only get about 3/5 out of the items I wanted.

I ended up paying USD$33 for a fairly small box, I'm sure I was wayyyy overcharged. But it did only take about 6 working days to get to Perth, the most isolated city in the world!

what was the charge on the USPS docket?
Was it similar to the shipping charge by PPC's?

    There wasn't a price only a weight, 36oz. I was charged for 3.82lbs.

*runs off to Google Calc to work it out*mumbles about stupid imperial weights*.

61.12oz. Jesus christ, that's like twice! If I find 2.2lbs of gear shipping works out to $21.36.

Hrmm ok I'm a bit pissed and they lost more sales cos I actually wanted more gear but adding 1 extra fan filter pushed shipping from $33 to $47.

Can't say $12 is going to make me postal or anything, but it is annoying. I'll have to remember that next time. I really wish Sidewinder could have got everything I wanted/needed.

Yeah, it's not a bad idea.

From here on in, for me anyway, it's going to be fairly small stuff, like tubing, barbs, grills and connectors and stuff.

But I'll also email for shipping quote next time! But I can't really complain, I ordered it Friday morning Perth Time (so that's like midnight-ish Thursday) and they processed it and dispatched it same day and it was at our PO Box on Tues this week. They only check the PO Box Thurs/Tues so it could have arrived Friday or Monday. Pretty damn quick still so I'm happy.

There should have been a large USPS sticker on the box (bar code etc) and it shows the price that they charge PPC's.
Anyways, judging by your experience you too got overcharged for shipping

@ all Aussies. I would like to know what you guys get from PPC's, and what products would you like to see available here in Australia.

I'm in the process of doing feasibility and research into an online store that carries only a select group of products to cater for the WC enthusiast.
    Let me know your thoughts.

Mmm didn't notice it, but wasn't looking all that hard anyway.

As for part 2, been there, done that. We already have 2 active companies, PCCG & Gammods. Gammods has slightly more listed but way more expensive. PCCG is already in the process of stocking up on W/C brands, Swiftech, Feser, EK, Bitspower and modding supplies they've had for a while such as AC Ryan (but very narrow range).

In fact as of today I could have got everything I wanted from PCCG except the Heatkiller 3.0 (and that was an impulse buy) and the price would have been about the same I paid from PPC, maybe slightly cheaper.

The major limiting factor to this sort of business is capital. You need to have a great deal of capital to get the stock in but the quantities required are fairly small so you either buy big & sit on stock or order small and economies of scale don't kick in.

    wow im SHOCKED.

I decided to give them another go.

I ordered 1x Left Angle and 2x Right angle sata cables.

They sent me 3x Left Angle....

Come on is this a joke?

EDIT: My order consisted of ONLY THREE CABLES and just some 1/8" sleeving....

HOW is it POSSIBLE to get that wrong?

I wish I had read his thread before my purchase. While they had all the items I wanted, their customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

I wont bore you with details, but due to an error on their end, an item which was in stock when I placed the ordered was not in stock when it came time to ship them

I dealt with Phil who was very nice, and who tried to help, but I could hear guy named James in the background, who was a possibly the worst customer manager. All this over a $7 item on a order over of near $450.

Instead of doing the right things, James tried to pawn off a substitute item of lesser quality and value, which was bad enough then insisted, I ship it back to them at my cost, when the right item was back in stock.

I could hear James yelling and cursing in the background as I spoke with Phil.

good old James eh! had dealings with him too
I ordered a part from them (psu bracket) and they sent me the wrong one. After numerous emails and complaints, I had to ship it back to them (at my expense!!!) and when the sent the new one out, it was the wrong one again... I modded it my self to fit.

sorry to hear man their customer service does suck badly the guy threatened me to ban me from his store from buying again after he couldnt track my package, sent me wrong informations, accused my wife of stealing from him. After that last purchase I didnt purchase again I now go to frozencpu.com for my stuff...too bad really all he had to do was check the information for my tracking to find that it was sitting at my post office instead of giving me the wrong tracking number and accusing my wife of stealing from him
FYI: YES itw as James who did all this and accused my wife he is the worst all I ask of him was, "wheres my box" I was not even rude just asked for tracking and if it was legit...

Just out of curiosity. Does this James guy you are speaking about own performance pc's? If not then i hope everyone who have had bad experiences with him has contacted the owner and told him about it.

Being accused of steeling (or accusing your wife) is unacceptable. I can't believe a guy like that has a job that has anything to do with customer service.

Just wanted to share my experience with Performance PCs. I've been buying from them over the past year and I heard about the issues that people have had with them. Personally, I've never had any issues. The first thing I ordered from them was a Lian Li case, and about 45 minutes after I placed my order, they called me to let me know that the case I wanted was out of stock and gave me the option to cancel that part of the order or change it. Since then, all of my orders were perfectly fine until my most recent order. I ordered a (UN) Designs Z bracket. The order I placed was for the V2. When I received the package, I opened it to make sure everything was in the box and everything looked like it was there. A week passes and I finally get around to installing my new parts... this is when I realized that I was sent an original Z bracket rather than the newer V2. So the first thing I did was shoot PPC an email. This was on a Saturday so I didn't expect a response until Monday. While I was waiting I decided to check their return policy and their policy basically stated that all orders should be checked upon receipt and that any disputes should be done within 3 days of the order arriving. So over the weekend, my first thought was... "aww crap, I'm screwed. I'm about to be come one of the horror stories."

That Monday morning I received an email from James saying they only had one version of the bracket. I calmly explained that I received a bracket and showed him a link on their site of what I actually received. James responded to apologize and let me know that he was going to send a new one out to me. They also included a return shipping label so everything would be fixed without an extra cost to me. I was really impressed since I expected to get a response basically stating my order was beyond the dispute period. Granted, this wasn't for an expensive part, but I still appreciated the service.

I just wanted to add this since most of the posts seem to be negative.

I shall have to add that I have never had a problem either in four years or so. Always shipped fast, always what I ordered.
Now, that being said, some of the stories I read here, even if only half true, are not acceptable for a retail operation. Even if the problem is escalated by the buyers tone and attitude, a professional retailer handles the problem. Lets keep in mind that everyone makes mistakes. The real test is how the buyer approaches the retailer, and how the retailer deals with the issue. This is why I prefer OCZ for memory, especially after I experienced G.Skills support!

not defending Hank in any way... but in my 20 so years of retail... the few that have an issue, makes the loudest noise...

    sounds too fortune cookie-ish...

i think Hank should get on the forums and work on his retail credibility a bit...

    my 2 cents worth

I have placed several small orders with PPC in the past and have generally had a positive experience. A couple of times shipping was severely delayed through no fault oif theirs. A flight controllerdescription did not specify compatibilty with Vista, I assumed it did and ordered it. They took the item back without a restocking fee.
What I am posting about is a positive experience I had with them today. I had trouble hooking up a card reader so James told me to send it back for a full refund, and he recommended another that he had positive experience with. He received the returned item today and tested it, emailed me and told me it worked for him just fine. I asked him to diagram pin layouts as the reader has non-standard arrangements, which he actually volunteered to do, along with sending photos. All this for a $25 part- that was on sale even. Not a big, high-dollar item, a measly $25 part.
I agree that the shipping prices are high- but I live on the opposite side of the continental US. Of course, I (and everyone else does) know the shipping charges before hand- so if I didnt agree to them I wouldnt order. They do have the best in stock inventory of enthusiasts parts and are as close to a one-stop-shop as I can find for pc's.
So overall, I am very satisified with PPC. Too often I am quick to complain but almost never praise. Kudos to James at PPC for excellent customer service!

As much as I like Hank if your in Japan you'd be much smarter to order from a west coast USA company.

I've never had problems with PPC. The only thing I hate there are the insane shipping fees to Europe and that they are on average 10 to 20% more expensive than sidewinder. They have a huge choice of products though.

Sidewinder was great for shipping when they had the cheap USPS international shipping, but now it's not available anymore.
