I bet it was Gautam In all seriousness, this most likely happened due to the eraser being pressed and frozen around the socket and then a ring of ice holding the insulation to the eraser and then me pulling up in a not too gentle manner all while at -192C.

Am I the only 1 that finds it ironic that the board says "ULTRA DURABLE" right underneath the destroyed socket?

I had this almost happen to me once the condensation form and of course the eraser did its job right up until it froze the pot to the socket I was patient though waited and eventually took a hair dryer to it.

    Nice Gomeler! LOL

I don't like waiting for the socket area unfreeze so I just fill the container with warm/hot water until the container separates by it self. No added force needed and its pretty quick.

It was 4am and I was 95% packed. I just wanted to pull the pot off, stuff it in it's container, put the board in the box, and head home No big loss, we got an awesome story out of it.

    where is miah now
oh i know what's wrong, we're just a couple of dumbasses

we warmed up our pot back in January with PH2 and the chip still managed to be pulled out of socket due to sticky mount (this was due to thermal paste creating a perfect bond) >> i was too scared to twist as i tried so decided to just yank it out lol

That's why I pull the pot off still cold, typically the Ceramique cleanly separates. Then again this is also typically around -50C or so after I warm it up a bit I hate Phenom II's lack of a socket retention mechanism, yanking chips and bending pins is so frustrating

I was told we won't see LGA for a while by guys at AMD. They say it is cheaper using pins. I guess this way they can immediately discount all RMAs that have destroyed pins? PGAs are so 2007

The "event" was spectacular; it was a pleasure meeting each and every one that showed up. I'm also especially glad that I finally got to see the dream team bench in person. Their prowess is simply on a completely different level, even from those of us that have been doing this for years. Can't wait till next time!

LOL - vapor and gautam were knocking over the same pop cans like it was their job - and the mobo being knocked on the floor and gautam quickly picking it up and acting like nothing happened and then having a knocked pop goon it :P:

it really was a blast meeting all of you and I can't think of a better way to spend the weekend than learning from the best - and learning the classified from Shamino was a real treat

Jody- Vince really got a kick out of your "no look pour" pic that you had me do :P:
