I think they'll sell out. 1000 pieces isn't a whole lot and there are a lot of people out there with a lot of money and very little time. I think there are enough people to which $1000 is pocket change and will buy these up. Now I just hope they sell so badly that Asus sends me two for review

Why bother at that price? % performance gain Vs % price increase makes it ridiculously bad value for money...even if somehow the users bottleneck is the GPU

Definatly not worth the price unless you are planning on doing Quad-SLI with two of them. Otherwise just get 2 x 2GB GTX 285 which would be cheaper.

Exactly, for some performance/price is simply not an issue and performance is all that matters.

This is also a flagship type product for Asus to market over competitors whether it sells 5 or 5000.

Perhaps this is his can of whoop ass?

Nah seriosly IMHO £600 would be a fair "rip off" price, £1000 is asking for way too many £££'s

It's not that hard to post it on your site, you can write whatever price you want, it's just preorder. They'll probably buy it from the distributor for £400 less and sell it to you for the original £1447 if you're dumb enough to order it in advance for that price.

That is a good point Mean Machine, it wouldn't surprise me if and when they come into stock they are £800 or something.

Doesn't anyone get the impression that IF the 3dfx Voodoo5 6000 saw the light of day in retail back in 2000 that it would also have been an outrageously priced card?

I wish some etailers on this side of the pond put up some pre-order numbers, so that I get an idea of the retail pricing so that I can decide whether I can step-up to the EVGA 295 co-op(I have just 5 days left on my step-up).

It's just too expensive and also too near to the DirectX11 GPU launch (touted to be November-ish 2009 for nVidia and September/October for ATi)
