guys, which P5Q dlx mbios version can you recommend for E8400 ocing? Which in your opinions are the best of the best? Thanks!

Start with the latest and slowly roll back one version at a time if you find you can't get the settings you want.

I found this great thread via Google. Kent's latest P5Q-E BIOS worked perfectly for me! May I send my thanks to Kent for all his brilliant work!

I hope I might be able to bring your attention to the following page from the P5Q-E manual:



It shows that a primary PCIE graphics card should only be mounted in the blue PCIE slot. I can confirm that a GPU does not work and the BIOS refuses to boot if a GPU is mounted in either of the other two black PCIE slots instead.

For the optimum design and air-flow of my case, I would very much like to be able to install my GPU in either one of the black PCIE slots, if possible. Preferably the one on the far right - number three. Is there any way that a marvellous Kent BIOS could allow for this achieved?

I would be tremendously grateful - and I am sure that many more silent-PC builders would be too!

again I am trying to get 525 MHz FSB or higher stable with my E8500 @ P5Q "Vanilla"... not possible.

I am using the newest BIOS (2102m), but already tried almost every other BIOS. I think, the NB GTL could help me there, but as you know, there is no NB GTL for the P5Q "Vanilla" and only one CPU GTL, which doesn't have really small increments (0.61x, 0.63x, 0.65x). I am trying to integrate this features (NB GTL, smaller increments for CPU GTL) into the BIOS. I already managed to create a SLIC-BIOS for the P5Q, which isn't very complicated. But the NB GTL isn't that easy to build in...
What tools should I use to create such a BIOS? Maybe you could give me some download links? Or even help me with this BIOS mod?

To add things like GTL reference values you have to modify the SLAB (Single Link Arch BIOS) portion of the BIOS. Modifying SLAB is possible to do, but very hard. One wrong move and your board could be toast. If you dare mess with SLAB probably the most easy way to go about doing it would be to extract the SLAB module from a P5Q Premium BIOS, and modify it to work with your P5Q.
