Wow Charles, nice touch! I noticed that mine was stealth all the way around, but I didn't realize until now you put that much into it with the vinyl and everything! You're a G-E-N-I-O-U-S!

It was actually really easy, probably as easy as Charles way with Vinyl. The only time consuming part was filing the edges to make them as smooth as possible, actually measuring and making the cuts was the easy part. Charles you must have lots of the bay device covers lying around

    Thanks for the comments Guys.

Nat: Your optical drive butt-stealthing method is brilliant - well done!

Project Update: Daniel's murderbox is finished.

Now I'm waiting on the weather to take some decent pics. I got up at 5:30AM this morning - hoping for a nice sunrise but alas I was denied. My next window of opportunity is tonight at sunset. Of course as I sit here now, the sun has broken through the clouds and is mocking me. Unfortunately, it's already too high in the sky for my purposes.

The other challenge will be night shots - this may take a bit more effort but I'll work on it during the week. It's not that I'm looking to do anything fancy really; I just want to attempt to capture how the machine looks in person - sometimes this is more difficult than one anticipates.

The other thing that needs to happen this week is to sort out the shipping and more importantly, the handling of this beast. I'm thinking gyroscopic gimbal or possibly a portable zero-g box that the machine will be tethered in. There's always the teleporter as a backup plan... I'll keep you guys posted as to the method we go with. In any event, the plan is to ship the machine out to Daniel in Frankfurt at the end of June.

My next update will hopefully have some pics. I imagine that if it doesn't, my welcome here will soon run out.

    You forgot one option Charles.

Disassemble the build, and ship it and yourself to Daniel's for reassembly

Looking forward to the photos. Would doing a clear sky dance help?

O, and does anyone know what the clear sky dance is?

I actually think disassembly and shipping to Nils for reassembly might be a good idea >.< Cyberdruid built an admirable strong box for his customer build and it still suffered major damages in shipping to the UK.... also maybe consider using a personal courier...

Daniel, fork out the money for a ticket for Charles to bring it TO YOU, you've already spent $x0000!!

It would still have to be packed and put in the baggage compartment, so I doubt Charles could protect it from unsuspecting luggage handlers, but I love the idea of seeing him try to take it on the plane with him

Congrats, Charles. Many, many hours of hard work and you reached the finish line! I'm sure Daniel is excited.

Re disassembling it ... I dunno. From reading the thread, it seems this is a very intricate and detailed build - fitting so much into the TJ07. I imagine Charles and Daniel will figure out a way to get it there securely.

Tell you what. I can fly to Canada and then take it across the Atlantic to Daniel's house. And then come back to Aus. Does that suit? If so can I have CC info please I will book the tickets now.

Where does Daniel live, UK? I think you can find flights for cheaper than 3k if you willing to ride coach. I have German friends that found seats for under a grand round trip.

Would be nice if you could buy a second seat and just strap it in next to you, but think they stopped that long ago.

Could always go the wood crate route, would cost more, but think that is bout the safest way, minus stupid fork lift drivers

Congrats Charles for having finished the monumental task!!! I bet it will be a new class of TJ07-based mods and can't wait to see it. As I followed through all the processes from the beginning since Daniel contacted me and I passed him on to the man who is good enough for the task, I can approve that you worked your *** off

Now just a safe shipping trip to Frankfurt. Maybe a boat trip would be safer - I would check for art/luxury-item places in Vancouver that regularly ship art or high-tech to Germany and ask them to put your case into the well-handled container.

    Congratulations again!!!

    Hehehe .

I live in Frankfurt by the way.

The box will most likely be shipped in a crate, on a pallet.

As much as I'd like to pay Charles a visit, and I admit I even thought of that, something else came up and I'll be flying to Chile in two weeks, to visit the VLTs at Paranal and the Easter Island. Woohoo!!!

    I found the perfect solution:
Put it in a coffin. They don't throw it around and it suits the murder theme

Thinking about it, just having "murderMod," or worse yet, "murderBox," on the shipping label would cause havoc with the customs folks. Maybe he should ship it from "Charles @ ModGod, inc."

He's got his Studio name for his shipping, so that helps a little with Customs. But I can attest that those Customs people are annoying. They called me and asked if I was expecting a package, and I said, "Yes! What's taking so long? Why won't you send it yet?" Their response was something stupid and then they asked if what I was waiting on was an aluminum computer case. What's the most ridiculous part is that Charles mailed me my case in the original Silverstone box! With all the labels on the outside!

I can imagine what they'd do with something like this. Charles, my suggestion, for what it's worth: Put it in a big crate, along with you holding it. Call it a vacation!

Otherwise, just send it to me. I'll take good care of it!

Congratulations my friend on completing this latest masterpiece!! I know how long you have been working away on this making sure that every little detail was perfect and I know that whatever pics you do show will blow your previous stuff out of the water!

Daniel: I envy you and the fact that this machine is yours...it is truly beautiful
