G.Skill Trident triple channel kit - DDR3 @ 2000 MHz in test

^^ it should work with the P6T but I've read that the asus boards do not like the g.skill mem. Maybe check out the g.skill support forums and see if there are any problems there?

Asus boards don't like this particular kit or they don't like G.Skill in general?

The thing is this kit of RAM costs the exact same price as this Corsair TR3X6G1600C7 kit. Which would you choose if they were the same price? If it's not compatible I'll just grab the Corsair kit. I don't really need the G.Skill kit at all, but I thought why not get it if it's the same price as the Corsair.

Well, I guess I meant more along the lines of the IMC of the core i7, depending on what you have will or will not like these high frequencies with the amount of VTT it needs.

I've been tossing up these two options as well... Leaning toward the Corsair - just because of the performance with tighter timings.

Check the Trident's QVL, the P6T Deluxe V2 works perfect with this memory kit, they must work OK in the P6T too.

Is it very hard to take off the heatspreaders on Trident?

Indeed that's not my kit. I suspect that mine are Elpida chips, because I can do 950Mhz CL7 stable. Other Trident kits I check can`t even run 1.9-2Ghz on CL8 @ 1.65V.
As you well said, it`s a lucky question, with this kit you can get nice Elpida chips or not....

Any idea on how to tell if their are the Elpida or the No-Names without removing the HS? I just got a pair, haven't had a chance to play with them much but this thread makes me hope i got the Elpida.

Try 1900 7-8-7-20 1.65 32m if pass @ 90% they are BBSE
2000 7-8-7-20 1.65 32m is pass 100% BBSE

I use Ln2 for 5 seconds or leave them in freezer for 20 minuts and they take off easy be carefull

Exactly, it's not necesary remove the heatspreader to know your Trident chips.... just check how long they can go on CL7-8-7-20 timings (1,65V), 1.9Ghz or above, means BBSE for me.
No name chips can't reach configs like these.
