I was going to get WC, but it would cost $700 to $800 for a high end setup, my phase change only cost $1070. So for an extra $300 I get -50C temps, instead of 50C![]()
that seems pretty steep for WC.im just going to get the 240$ kit from swiftech.
this is just an amazing cpu.9x458@4124 w/stock vcore 1.237v bios/1.216 cpuz load.

Have an e8400 that I got last year, ordered it shortly after they came out. Ran it at 4.05ghz for well over a year using LLC on a P5K Deluxe board.. Got a quad and a new motherboard earlier this year and had put it away until last week, was bored one night so I thought I would try it again using the Gigabyte board. No signs of degrading after 1yr+ using LLC and countless hour of Prime, IBT, and LinX. I think these chips are a lot harder to damage than some believe. You can see the date in Orthos, 1/23/08 in the first ss. The second ss was a LinX run I did last week in the EP45 UD3P board well over a year later.
BTW that's an awesome 8400 you got there radaja. 4.5ghz-1.328v![]()

Damn, you guys are freaking lucky.
In order to get my E0 running at 4500 MHZ, it takes above 1.412 volts. At 4.25 any lower than 1.328 will cause problems. And I bought it in late December. The batch number is Q832A389
Any tips to lower the voltage would be appreciated, I want to keep temps down, especially in this warm weather we are getting over here.

Have you tried playing around with the MCH and CPU references? They have helped me run lower vcore before![]()
9x500@4500 w/1.31v
i was able to lower my vcore by raising my vtt one notch for this run.
but theres only so much that can be done, the rest is up to the cpu.
fatguy1992 was right about the mch refyou really have to find sweetspot
well i switched my mch ref from 0.750 bios/0.700 ET6 to 0.770 bios/0.720 ET6
and was able to drop my vcore even lower.

last week I had quite new batch Q830A931 of E8500 E0 and it was bad pieceit was extra heating, because my Intel stock cooler is cooling my E5200 with 1.65V on 68°C Idle...but this E8500 on 1.28V had 90°C in BIOS and I didn't understand it...first step was with 1.4V, but after reboot was temperature in BIOS 125°C
is it normal with stock cooler? my last E8400 C0 was cooling with this stock cooler on 1.5V and temperatures weren't over 90°C
