yeah, this isn't one of those easy mods
I was close to loose mine too, but found it some minutes later.

now the hard thing is to solder it back..

LOL hicookie was laughing at me on MSN while i was doing this

it looks hard but its actually a pretty easy mod

to remove it you need to have a tiny flat screw driver....just physically push it and it will pop off..........then place it on the new spot carefully, use the little screwdriver to hold it in place from the top .... just hold it on top while you put solder on one side.....when the solder grabs you can lift the little screwdiver and do the other side

    easy as pie

and i am a total noob at soldiering

it really is a terrible job to do this mod, but like you sad Dinos, eventually when you find out how to do it, its not that hard..

My result after done the mod...CPU cooled by dry ice and 3 x HD4890 on CFX mode.

    Set 106 MHz on PCIe

    Rig photo

Boot 234 MHz BCLK from BIOS

    3D Benchmark all @ 232 BCLK x 21, HT On

    SuperPI 32M @ 234 BCLK

    Super PI 1M @ 235 BCLK

    CPU-Z Validation @ 237 BCLK

    http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=587263

I think it will be higher with LN2, maybe 5 - 10 MHz more on BCLK

    Great numbers Benny

I'm getting someone else to do the mod for me. I took one look at the size of those resistors and knew i'd butcher it I'll have some W3540 & cascade action next week. can't wait

The mod is working well here. At least now it looks like I can max out my W3540 on cascade. It sucked big time to be stuck on 222bclk. Now I don't think there's any need to buy a Classified

It very nearly did a 32m run at this clock. There should be more in it with some tweaking. Sub 7m 32m is very close

Ok, here's my story for now. Boy I need some LN2

    Testbed

    Gigabyte EX58-UD5 - F8X Bios + mod
    Intel Core i7 920 D0
    V0rt3x Ghetto SS (~-20oC)
    3x2GB OCZ DDR3 1600CL7
    IDE 40GB Maxtor
    OCZ EliteXStreme 1000W
    Room temp ~29oC

    SuperPI 32M - 230BCLK x 21 = 4844MHz (ignore the bad time, bad OS)

    SuperPI 1M - 237 BCLK x 21 = 4974MHz

    CPU-Z Validation - 238 BCLK x 21 = 4999 MHz
(also have a 5GHz one but it is marked red by CPU-Z)

    RAM OC - CPU-Z Validation - DDR3 2400 9-9-9-24 1T

I have started to test EX58-Extreme with air cooling.

    1. As I saw that someone found that 129MHz PCIe was the best on his board, I tried that. :p The board booted and was pretty stable. However, I backed down to 115MHz and atm I find that more stable. Before mod I was not able to boot above 103MHz PCIe.

    2. I am still not able to go higher than ~222MHz BCLK.

Conclusion: I guess I have to improve my soldering skills? :p

did you use the new bios?
without the bios.. you won't pass that 222bclock wall.

If you already have, make sure you use 10x memory multiplier and 20x uncore multiplier. Those defenitly work best

yep, I use the new BIOS. I also have uncore set to 20x.

I don't think I can use 10x for memory as my RAMs max out... I use some old D9GTR.
