The ln2 market is so small(and thus unprofitable) and tech savvy, i doubt they are advertising like this purely to get more ln2 people on board. This is definitely for the general public.
LN2 results are general publicity. Like all other over-the-top publicity events they are aimed at generating buzz about the product. If people are talking about your product due to something awesome that happened with it, they are thinking about your product. These benchmarks probably won't generate a direct "I want to buy this to overclock" sale, but they will get people thinking about the chips and encourage people to exercise all three options (PHII, C2Q, Ci7) rather than just focusing on Intel products.
