I had several boards with the problem connected with the fan from 4.2 GHz with the stability problems have occurred
    especially with the Asus
    and the UD 5 GB
which occurs only at very high load on

must not have made me a lot of headache
    tasted
    in error search

Sorry for my 10 year old school English

Hey hey! Anyone have experience with 12 GB Memory overclocking to 2000 MHZ on RE2?
Just upgraded to 12 GB Kingston KHX16000D3ULT1k3/6GB from 6GB of the same ram.
when running 6 GB i could overclock to 2009 MHZ very stable.
but Ive recently added 6 more GB and cant boot at 2009 MHZ like before, lowest i can boot is like 1900 something. but seems unstable in windows.

Ive tried upping the QPI which didn't work out..
setting the timings to manual, and other overclocking settings to defalt except the memory. still no boot.

I'm afraid to give more than 1.65 to Dram, but if its necessary ill go for that, just thought id check here first.
    any advise would be appreciated

    UPDATE!!!
    in 3d mark Vantage
my CPU score is 55622. with the 6GB memory @2009 MHZ 8-8-8-24-1N the CPU speed is 4.05 GHZ
and with 12GB memory installed the CPU score is 24979. the memory is clocked at 1859 7-8-7-20-1N, CPU speed is 4.1 GHZ.
wonder whats really eating my scores, is it really the addition of the 6GB memory?

Below is the 6GB score...the one im proud of..

    What's OC station?

Nevermind, what a useless piece of junk...

Let's see this "improved memory compatibility" for the Gene as well...

Check out my CPU-Z screenshot here: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=582979

Most (if not all) x58 boards have this problem until you bump up PCI-E Frequency to at least 110 or higher. That enables you to go over the 222 bclk, which means it's not the problem with the CPU, but of the board.

memory is less efficient with this bios? (if it's like on the Maximus Extreme, with this option was less efficient)

what bios is best for OC? 1204, 1403 or 1406?

    thank you very much

    Hello XS

I just got this mobo and installed and everythign runs fine except I have some problem with the soundcard. I installed the drivers and the sound works but I have atm maxed windows volume setting and maxed headset volume and it is sometimes not loud enough anyone haveing the same problem?, on my old Maximus boards I couldent even have my headset on 50% volume because that was to much. I also never got a icon for the soundcard on my taskbar(like the ATi icon but for audio) after I installed the drivers. Without the icon I can basicly only play with the windows settings shouldent this card have professional settings like my previous Maximus I and II had?, the soundcard looks the same to me. I tried reinstall the drivers without getting the taskbar icon so what am I doign wrong?. I downloaded the sound drivers from Asus site the only ones that is on there(7.5 mb). Anyone have any ideas what is wrong, anyone have any solution?

I am using Vista 64 if that might have something to do with it.

A small question to all of you guys, who are running their RAM at 1800-2000MHz: What QPI voltage do you set to get your system stable ?

Have you checked on your Mixer setting? Or did you just adjust the volume using the speaker icon located at bottom right? Sometimes the Wave setting under Mixer may be set way too low and so adjusting the overall volume doesn't help. Check the Mixer setting if you haven't already done so.

Every CPU needs a other VTT most of c1/c0 stepping need for 2000Mhz 1,37-1,47vtt and the D0 stepping needs 1,32-1,37vtt so you must testing the vtt on your cpu
