Working on this for my 920...man temps go crazy from 4.4 to 4.6 adds 10 degrees even after turning HT off!

Sweet clocks bluehaze!, yep some of these chips are hot.
Chicken Patty, I am on water, PA 120.3 6 1400-1500 rpm fans push/pull, dedicated cpu loop, air intake 26.2C, water temps after 13 hrs prime were 32.1C, so 5.9C air to water delta. CPU gradient from core to water is crazy 50C,...10C higher than my i940.
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D // ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E Hero // ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III 360 A-RGB // G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB Series (AMD Expo) DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MT/s CL30 // ZOTAC Gaming GeForce RTX 4090 AMP Extreme AIRO // Samsung Pro 980 2TB NVMe (OS and Games) // WD Black 10TB HDD (Storage)
Heatkiller might give me 1-2C better temps, my air to water delta is already low at 5.9C, best I can do with quad rad, etc would be another ~2C there. Might get 4-5C better temps. Real problem is water to cpu gradient which cant do much about, unless IHS is making bad contact from shape, but again probably talking a few C at max I could gain...though it would all add up. I reseated several times all with same temps.
But I will say, there is no such thing as too much radiator for an i7.
I agree man. Why dont you get one of these puppies

Since you're discussing watercooling an i7 I might as well chime in here. I'm really in shock about those temps some people are reporting, 70°C and up on water?!? What could be the factor for that? I have two PA120.3 and an Fusion v2 (for which I'm still missing the 1366 mounting kit) waiting for the job, but I'm not so sure anymore that that is enough. Since the IHS on i7 are soldered I though that might ensure good heat transfer between core and IHS, so maybe the people reporting those bad temp just have really bad IHS? Or might it be a matter of mounting pressure? So if I lap that W3520, put Coollaboratory on as TIM and somehow manage to get higher mounting pressure, would I still be in for bad load temps? (btw, would it be better to get the D-Tek mounting kit or is something else more pratical to raise the pressure, if that's even needed)
Edit: Any thoughts on this batch btw: 3848A365 ?

Geez.. this D0 stepping is HOT..
With my C0 I could use 4.2 HT On with 1.46V and temps ok... with this D0 anything above 1.4V temps get way out of hand... And what sucks the most, is that I can't bench with more than 4.378GHz...
My watercooler is on its way.. when its done, will post here better clocks hopefully..
finally got my voltages and temps under control.
8hrs. Prime Stable
and today i was working on this. Prime quick test 1hr.
