Great competition overall and congrats to everyone who got to play, special congrats to Fugger and Vapor for taking home the GOOC 2009 crown, well deserved....not having the best CPU but being able to hang in there, not become discouraged, fight the fight and win! Super job...
Was a bit disheartening on a certain level to watch Miahallen and sno.lcn tear through so much gear.... Better luck next time.
GOOC is simply AWESOME always!!
Heck, I got extremely lucky and won a drawing for a really nifty netbook type lappy....pretty sweet little machine.
I haven't sorted through my photos yet, I'll get on that once I get back home Saturday evening.
Gigabyte staff deserve special recognition for all of their efforts which led to a great eventThank you Gigabyte for another special week of fun!!
it was good to see you again rdrash![]()
is this competition open for any to go watch or is it closed for the public?
by invitation only, but if they get enough interest, I'm sure they would enlarge the venue next year.

mia, you didnt insulate your mobo with enamel or grease?
Big mistake in asia....
Congrats TeamUSA on the win.
Not mobos 1-4, but we sprayed 5&6 around the socket. Condensation was responsible for mobos 3&4 only (they were mobos #1&2 on competition day). Big lession learned thats for sure
If you saw me waving around the mobo on the live feed, that was me trying to dry the conformal on mobo #5.
I've never benched in such a humid enviornment, so I had never used or needed to conformal a mobo before (when using kneaded eraser), however the condensation problems aside, it still would have been very difficult for us to pull off a win due to all the other issues we had. 3 of the 6 mobos we used had other issues as I described before
We had a blast anyhow, and I'll definitely be back for more in the future.![]()

i think US was invite only
hopefully it's open comp next year
ours was open comp
Loved the event and everything related to it ... but too tired to comment now. Just arrived back home after a 25-hour travel.
Congrats to Charles and Eric for the win ... they obviously excelled in the Vantage benchmark without using hardmods![]()
Where courage, motivation and ignorance meet, a persistent idiot awakens.
We had 5 cpu's each ... all having a number on it so we could test. When Thomas and me got the cpu's, I said "Alrighty, we have #30 ... it's in the pocked".
Why Thomas decided to test #6 first, I don't know, but it was crap. So ... I told him to test #30 instead of #6 and it was a winner.

The temp-trick does actually work quite well, Dino, thanks for sharing (or at least hinting towards) it. But we also changed a setting from "turbo/extreme" to "standard": we know the efficiency decreases, but the gain in raw frequency was high enough to take the SPI crown.
This last thing also made me wonder about the whole debate regarding efficiency taking into account at overclocking competitions. But more on that tomorrow![]()

had an awesome time and it was an honor to meet such talented overclockers. I'll say more later when I'm not driving :p
Congrats Team USA
Who won the beer drinking competition this year?![]()
Yes, Yellowbeard, a tall rough man with a big yellow beard
Got back home yesterday already, but I was too tired to write anything.
Congratulations to charles and Eric for the win!
Vantage was huge disappointment for our team. We had our cards running up to 1GHz, but we had some typical throttling issues + something I can't explain. Our CPU was great in both tests.. low voltage and 5.5GHz in 32M was ok. This CPU did 5.2GHz in vantage and we used "safe" 5.16GHz in the competition without any problems. Our best CPU score was 31900 and that is great for UD5.
Of course we had to try to get best efficiency in 32M, cause our CPU couldn't go as high as it should have. Isn't that quite obvious
We are still happy to be the best team in EUI have to make up somethign to feel better
Thanks for our local contacts Bessie and Crystal to tour us and taking us to dinners etc.
Luxy was quite ok and the party was awesome. Thanks Jasmine![]()
