Ya screw that. It'll be cheaper to buy 2x 4890 over a 4870x2 + the cooler.

$70 and the gpus are cooled on the same block, screw that. For that price the gpus should be on seperate blocks with their own heatpipes.

What do you mean? Because the botom plate is connected? Thing is between the two coolers the linker needs to be cooled as well as the other vr and ram stuff around the base. The plate looks like one from a watercooling setup.

Went and pre-ordered one. Nothing could be worse than the stock cooler when it gets going.

Sweet, would love to hear some numbers from you guys

I heard that the VRM heatsinks are quite terrible for the Accelero Xtreme GTX280 version. If you guys could report the temps on your VRMs that would be good too!

The gtx280 version uses a thin piece of metal for some stupid reason that doesn't cool at all. The hd4870x2 is using a full plate much like the stock vrm plates.

Not everyone has full 2 x PCIE x16 Crossfire supporting motherboard. I personally know that if I can keep temps down on my HD 4870x2 I'm good for at least 830 core. If this cooler can help me reach 850/1000 whats the point of buying 2 x HD 4890s anyways? Might as well wait for HD 5870x2 or GTX380.

I would agree with that comment today but by this point most 4870x2 users most likely bought their card before the GTX295 launched, making this sink's late release all the more retarded. However given I don't intend to buy a new gpu until my 32nm I7 build, I'll problaey pick one up. When my X2 was working I was happy with it other than the turbine noise it made ( reminded my of my old X850xt ) As long as all the extra internal heat doesn't melt my northbridge, all should be well.

Initial impressions: whoa its huge. It didn't take that long to install (just the screws that hold the plate were a bastard because they have springs, you gotta REALLY push down on the screws).

Stock cooler idle 29% fan speed temp: core 1 51c core 2 46c
    Accelero hd4870x2 29% fan speed: core 1 35c core 2 31c

Sound stock 39% is 2x LOUDER then accelero 100% fan speed. That's insane!
    VDDC with accelero temps:
    41c 42c 42c

so far so good... actually EXCELLENT!
Adobe is working on Flash Player support for 64-bit platforms as part of our ongoing commitment to the cross-platform compatibility of Flash Player. We expect to provide native support for 64-bit platforms in an upcoming release of Flash Player following the release of Flash Player 10.1.

Ingame fan speed of 60% on accelero. It's so quiet I can ever hear my cpu fan on my true which I cant usually hear!

Stock 46% fan speed Left 4 dead (VERY loud stock fan, my biggest gripe was because it was so damn loud. very shader intensive, gives me high temps).

    Core 1: 82c, core 2: 81c
    VCD: 92c 95c 95c

Accelero hd4870x2 60% fan speed (Dead silent).
